I regularly edit Word documents using Word 365 stored on MS teams, which I believe stores docs in Sharepoint online. I'm finding that every 30 seconds or less MS Word says "saving" in the title bar and completely locks up for a few seconds. Word is set to autosave every ten mins but seems to be doing it as soon as any text is written. Fast computer, fiber internet.

Any ideas? I don't really want to turn autosave off completely.

Update: I'm using Microsoft Word application, not teams, not a browser. The application on my computer.

I've never really had much luck using the Office suite in Teams.

I find it's glitchy and have similar experiences to you, or have the opposite and real-time edits aren't stored/saved.

I prefer to use the "offline" version and upload to Teams wherever possible

It will keep the document always up-to-date when editing an online copy.

The "freezing" part is the one that shouldn't be happening.

Multiple people have the document open, which may be why it's saving so often. We do need this but I can ask people to close it.

Multiple people working on the same document shouldn't be a problem. Are you using the editor inside Teams or Word (you can click [...] and select "Open in app" or "Open on browser").

I'm using the Word app, not browser or teams for editing.

Is it using the MS word program (as an application on your device) or are you using the web browser version of word?

I don't know specifically how your setup works, but for example, my workplace has office 365 and Sharepoint.

You can log in via web browser and access your docs and edit via word in a web browser and/or you can have the MS office suite installed on your PC and set it so any editing of word docs happens in word on your PC (all the while auto saving back to Sharepoint).

If it's using the MS office suite is it worth re-installing it? Or can you use the web browser online version of word?

I'm having Teams, SharePoint and Office 365 login all freezing or totally unavailable this morning.

It's the Word app. I'm starting to think there's some kind of a Microsoft issue, I've seen a couple of comments today.

We are receiving calls around new emails not arriving in Outlook even though it says it is connected  Emails to mobile seem to be working OK.

https://twitter.com/MSFT365Status advises of admin portal issues, but perhaps the issue is more widespread as mentioned.

I've had enough of a test from multiple client sites remotely and also reports from two teams of mid size clients. Every user experiencing issues with 365 this morning is on a Vodafone connection.

Interested to see if that theme is continued here - I suspect it is - Its as simple as I can login to webmail https://outlook.office365.com without issue at my home and from client sites on other providers but its slow to non-functioning on Vodafone sites - Might be an upstream pear but its limited to vodafone it appears.

Can confirm myself and other engineers on my team using Vodafone are having issues this morning, and calls are rolling into our Service Desk.

Just had a client ring who run a web application on Azure - They've had reports of their customers having issues getting to site - Every client with an issue is on Vodafone.

So definitely something between Vodafone NZ and Australian Microsoft data centre(s) at least.

Is there a way for merge the two active threads on this issue Admins?

Our Vodafone contact has advised that Microsoft have made some config change that impacted VF and possibly some other ISP's. The change has been rolled back, so hopefully some improvements soon.
