Active Sync in RNDIS Sync Mode

Hi,
I understood that I can change the settings from the USB Serial Sync Mode to RNDIS Sync Mode, which should be faster and give the network advantages to my PDA-PC connections.

But I have a problem now with Active Sync. When I switched to RNDIS, a new LAN connection called "Windows Mobile-based Device" appeared and it indicates that it is active and ok. I can ping the PDA IP, so this seems to work fine.

But Active Sync can not connect and I do not have any idea why.

The main reason why I decided to try this was that copying of large files (like mp3) goes extremely slowly in USB mode and I hoped that RNDIS could be faster.

Is there something else I have to set?

The copy won't go any faster because it is still limited to the USB speeds anyway. Are you using a Windows Mobile 5 device? If not, the best option would be to keep ActiveSync 3.8 instead of installing ActiveSync 4.0.

As for your current problem, I would start looking at firewall programs on your PC.

Yes, I found it in the meantime that firewall is (silently) blocking it.

And you are right concerning the speed - it is equal.

But anyway - is it normal to copy one mp3 (6 MB) 48 sec? (when copying files to my mp3 player, I can manage several albums for the same time...)

Remember you mp3 player is probably a USB 2.0 device - most newer mp3 players are due to the volume of data being transferred. All current Pocket PCs are USB 1.0 devices only. This is a huge difference in speed (11 Mbps on USB 1.0 and 480 Mbps on USB 2.0).
