calling your horse is tedious since range can be an issue (WHY????) and then it stops many meters away

I just run towards the horse after I call it, you can see it coming on the map.  It's faster to do that either way.

networkn: On the more frustrating side, he needs brushing about every 20-25 minutes of gameplay.

I've brushed the horse literally three times in my entire play through of the game.  I'm not sure why this is an issue for you?  It never comes up for me?

networkn:

then transporting it literally to the other side of the camp, even that took around 8 minutes of real time play. Not enjoyable. All for $35.

You can leave it on the horse.  When you're at the trapper or Pearson's wagon you can just switch to the horse inventory from there.  Means you don't have to be carrying things around everywhere.

If you leave it on the horse, then you have no room to put other things on the horse.

Yeah but you're transporting it anyway.  I mean when you get off your horse at camp or at the trapper you don't actually have to take it off the horse, once you select it from the horse inventory it disappears from the horse even though you didn't carry it.

Just heading into the last chapter, probably tonight.  Things really hit the fan!  Arthur is not....healthy.... which hopefully doesn't slow him down even more :)  The story is getting very cool indeed!

I find it confusing knowing what I am allowed to and not allowed to do in this game, in terms of affecting my good/bad meter.

I saw some people executing some others. I didn't get to the baddies in time to stop them killing the people, but I did kill the bad guys, and then proceeded to loot all the bodies. I got dinged reputation for looting the people who were killed by the bad guys.

You're allowed to do anything and everything.

I just decided what will be will be.  I'm not aiming for any particular Good Guy/Bad Guy status.  I'm just playing the game and seeing where I land at the end.  So far I'm about 3/4 towards the Good Guy end of the scale, but I've done some pretty bad things (sometimes by accident), I guess it just depends what your overall intentions are.  It's like Telltale games - often I feel bad about a certain decision I make or character that might die.  But that all contributes to the overall story and it makes it more interesting to see the end result that way.

I think the point is life was morally ambiguous back then in that environment.  People are complicated :)

Yeah, I understand I am ALLOWED to do anything, but I am more the lawful good (I actually find some of the illegal stuff in the story makes me feel bad!) so I don't intentionally do bad things and take opportunities to do the good thing when it's offered. What I am asking is, in the situations above, how do I tell if something is going to take away reputation points?

Another example was I found a guy who was drinking heavily. He wanted more booze and I gave it to him, nek minit he falls over and I assumed he died. So I did the logical thing and looted him, bad karma!

I mean killing an innocent, it's obvious. Looting someone who is dead.... IF I didn't kill them, seems like... normal?

I’m pretty much the same in all respects. I’ve done some bad stuff to random people out in the wilds - even killed and looted the Mexican who kept wanting me to have a shooting competition with him - but I’ve done a lot of good stuff as well. Lost count of the number of times I’ve sucked a guy’s leg out on the lone prairie.

My good meter is about 2/3rds.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Pretty sure at the beginning of the game when it's teaching you how to do things like looting, it tells you that if you loot people you kill in story combat that's ok,  but if you loot civilian NPC's that will impact your honor negatively.

The same thing happened to me. I was wonder wtf I did. Killed him, looted the body and made off like a bandit. Funnily enough the same guy (or someone eerily similar) showed up by a bridge wanting to shoot bottles for cash. Not sure if that's a glitch or just weird.

finished the game this weekend, the story was great, the graphics were great, the gameplay was crap.  utter utter crap.

the gameplay is basically

  1. ride a horse to yellow point, which takes a good 5minutes or so (it at least feels that long).  horse gets tired, let it rest a bit, to regain stamina... cant really take that many shortcuts since theres so many cliffs etc.
  2. cutscene
  3. maybe a gun fight
  4. maybe cutscene
  5. goto 1

This game would have been better suited for a movie IMO.  the story was very good, well except the fact you couldnt make any real choices.  Sure there are technically 2 endings, but they end result is the same, its just if your considered good/bad at the end.  You dont get to choose to kill certain people for instance..... and boy did I try to shoot certain people.

The really need to give the player some choices in the main story..  When your own the boat gambling... you dont have any choice, if you dont do all in, you fail the mission, you have to just do what they say to do.  I wanted to play some poker... but alas, it was just basically a quick time event.

The epilogue stuff is super fun

  • Build fence
  • Shovel cow poo
  • milk cow
  • hammer in nails

How on earth did this game get 10/10... seriously admit the flaws so they fix them for RDR3.

I would rate it about a 4/10.  The story and graphics dont make up for the dull gameplay.

Ive found that lasooing it and then trying to jump on is futile, even tho it seems to work on other horses. Have to do the calm it constantly as walking up to it thing.
