Just came across this article. I've been a big GT fan since back in the day.
While I used to update the PS based on when the next iteration of GT required it, I've been less enamoured with the GT franchise of late. While it's very pretty, it's gone too much like an arcade game. Been playing a lot of Dirt Rally 2 lately and for when I was wanting a track fix, Project Cars 2 offered a more realistic sim experience. Haven't got as far as looking at iRacing though as that would require a PC upgrade.
So when the next iteration of Dirt Rally (apparently including the WRC licence) turns up, no doubt I'll need to look at upgrading then.

My "back in the day" was the PS1 and PS2 variant... Haven't owned a more recent PS. Now I've got kids, they're getting to the age where they might enjoy a console.

I used to really love the GT series -- but they became too much of a 'simulator' .
Also, I want to crash into other cars and objects and see destruction. All the things you can't do in real life.
Let me do a head-on into another car at 300kph and see a huge explosion .
New Spider-Man game on PS5 is not going to be a huge game:

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
I have been fairly impressed with the PS5 stuff I have seen online.
I do wish that game makers would officially allow cheating though. The games are expensive and the user has paid the maker regardless. I find I have a lot of games that end up on the scrapheap unfinished because I simply lack the skill and/or patience to complete them once I hit a certain point. I like the game but simply cannot get past the challenge that has stopped progression. Why then as the owner of the game should I not be able to choose to skip to the next bit if I want to? Or turn on "invulnerability" or something?
It would make no difference to the studio selling the game. The game was written so that I could enjoy playing it, not as a test just to expose my lack of ability.

Quite a few games offer a "Just the story" mode or similar. I know God Of War 2018 and Horizon Zero Dawn offer these difficulty settings.
Just saw this about PS5 DualSense controller:

I 100% agree with this. I enjoyed the hell out of Final Fantasy but I enjoyed it even more being able to speedrun it using a Gameshark. I can see it causing some issues with more linear games but with larger-scale, open-world games with alternative plots and decision trees, it made it much more fun to be able to make different choices and see different outcomes.

I played TLOU2 on medium level. I'm not a heavy gamer and certainly not a masochist so I read that medium was a good compromise, combat wasn't too difficult but supplies were scarce so you couldn't run into a room and blast the crap out of everything. There was one boss creature that was particularly difficult to beat, i persevered but I read online later that many people knock the difficulty back just for the boss creature. I thought it was a good idea to allow the gamer to change the difficulty level mid play through.
Sony PS5 announcement scheduled for 8 am this Thursday, NZ time:

Here’s a story about an alleged leak on pricing and showing NZ$799 and NZ$649 for disc and digital versions. Weighing up historical pricing and the effect of the Xbox pricing, these figures sound entirely plausible and likely to me.

I wonder what price Sony had in mind before the Xbox Series S/X announcement. Apparently they had a much higher price in mind before the MS announcement.
