Xbox Series X available at The Warehouse(103 units remaining) and Mightyape right now if anyone is after one
networkn:Decided I couldn't take more witcher 3 without a break, so got Outriders free on Gamepass and decided to give that a go.
I am really enjoying it, but it took a good 30-40 minutes to get even remotely interesting. The acting and story is a bit average, but once the combat started, wow things got intense. I am pretty impressed if I am honest. The best thing about it is the sound. The music and sound really lifts the intensity of the feel of the game quite a lot. It's not something you'd play an hour before bed.

How are you finding the colours? I'm finding it very dark and a lot of red. Dark red with a dark background doesn't help me much as I have mild colour blindness.
My Xbox is on our second TV which doesn't have great performance but I am finding it a bit hard to play in parts.
To be honest, it's not something I've had much trouble with, but I am not sure if it's using HDR or not, or even what resolution it's running at.
I'll maybe get a chance to play tonight if I don't go to Squash tonight so I'll pay more attention and get back to you.
Kopkiwi:
After the highs of Rise, Shadows was a major let down.
Just finished Shadow of the Tomb Raider with 100% completion - and you were pretty much right - not quite as good as Rise, but I still enjoyed it.
Now going back to pick up on Metro Exodus which I had just started before Shadow arrived. Somewhat different sort of game with different controls to remember and master after playing so much Tomb Raider in recent months.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Recently discovered Telltale games. Played through both Batman ones back to back, and they were amazing.
The first game also impacts the second game a little bit.
They were so good I'm almost tempted to go back and play through them to get different endings.
To be clear, the games were basically glorified quicktime events, but the story telling was awesome, and I really enjoyed 'playing the movie'.
I’m currently gamelocked on Returnal for the PS5. Hellishly difficult (I’m a very casual gamer i.e., not very good) and it’s a roguelite game, which means when you die you go right back to the start again. 6 hours in so far and not giving up yet….
good story, good graphics, good atmosphere and gameplay
Returnal looks interesting, I'll wait till it isn't at full RRP before considering it further. I have a stack of half finished games I'm working on.

Interesting but incompatible with my life currently. Run length and lack of saving means you're forced to use rest mode to stop, but if your console updates or you switch apps you lose your run progress.
Outriders is one of the most intense games I've played in a long time. It's not 'scary' which is something I don't enjoy (stuff jumping out of you unexpectedly). It's difficult, but not impossible. I haven't quite worked out how to use my powers properly yet, I don't think the tutorials are really fantastic, and some of the stuff is a bit hit and miss (literally). Can someone remind me how to interrupt the boss guys from executing their powers?
Took me around 7 goes to get the boss I just took on, he just smashed me. I am not actually sure how I did it the last time, button mashing and got lucky was the likely scenario.
The AI is terrifyingly accurate with their gunfire and some cover is damageable.

Ah, when people said Roguelike I didn't join the dots. Yes, I am the same as you, I don't think this game would fit my current time limits.

The RL aspect is a bother but I'm not fussed by it, I'm more annoyed by the lack of saving. I don't want to do well only to have an update/crash reset all effort.
I don't think it's difficult to implement a room/checkpoint system that's not a system save that's backed up and also a save + quit function so you can pick it up later if you choose to play something different.
The latter is a big issue for people who share their console as they can't insure that Returnal will only ever be running.
I'm all over the show.. I hardly ever finish a game for whatever reasons
