Anyone playing this title? Curious as to the amount of actual story content and the quality thereof. Where as all the previous AC games played heavily on the story side (which I prefer), Black Flag advertising seemed all about the locations and the scenery, which sadly sums up where the franchise seems to have gone for me.

But, with a new laptop I'd planned to break in on Watch Dogs, sadly delayed, I'm now looking for my first 'next gen' title. I've played all the AC games through, but couldn't finish AC3. Keen to hear thoughts on Black Flag.

I have been playing it 3+ hours a for a week and a bit and am MAYBE half way through the main story and 1/3 through completion. It's MASSIVE. I mean seriously HUGE. It's also a LOT of fun and extremely varied with it's missions. I can't highly enough recommend it.

Thanks for that. I see there's a ton more stuff you can upgrade and buy in this game. How's the balance between accumulating enough materials\gold just in your travels vs needing to work on specifics?

Also, assuming you've played the other games in the series, what's your take on the quality of the main story? (without spoilers of course :-))

Well I liked the story in the first, didn't think much of the second, skipped the third due to bad reviews, and Four is excellent.

Resources are relatively limited, but like any worthwhile enterprise you will need to work to get "money". The thing is, the work is fun!

I gotta say, so far I'm quite impressed. The graphics are stunning on PC, and (again, so far) the missions are short and entertaining. You're never left feeling like you're looking for something to do which was all too common in AC3.

I probably spent about 5-6 hours in Havana doing side quests before finally heading out to sea on the main story line. Very entertaining.

Same. I had the same issue with GTA5 where comparatively there is nothing to do. Saints Row 4 by comparison had something no matter where you went.

Black flag is a awesome pirate game, the assassin side of things hasnt made any new innovations from what I saw,

But It's still fun.

I have it!
I would suggest its a waste of money. Cant play multiplayer. Just crashes. Fixes don't work..
The movement is so stuffed. Like when free running you cant go i want to go here. Because the character just jumps up against a brick wall 5 times in a row and then dies.

I think its a good game but the pathing is just demented and the random loading issues.

Admittedly I am playing on ps3 (ps4 on friday), but I have had no issues like that.

I've been playing it on PC and really enjoying it. There are still issues with free running and some of the quests are the same old stuff but the sailing/exploration side is great fun.

What platform are you on? I'm not seeing any of those problems. In fact, after the state of Splinter Cell Blacklist at launch, I'm very pleasantly surprised how bug free this game is.
