Looking for some help. 


I purchased a brand new Xbox One from Harvey Norman and three days later Kinect stopped working. So took it back to them for a fix/replacement. 

The said all they could do was send it back to Microsoft for repair and flat out refused to replace it themselves or give me a refund. Said it was Microsoft's policy that they had to send it back to them. 

Anyway two weeks later and its still away getting looked and and no one at Harvey Norman can give me a real update. 

This seems like real BS to me buying something then it braking in three days and sill without it two weeks later. Is this really what Microsoft expect or are Harvey Norman just mucking me around and legally they should replaced it.  

I just don't know if I should be angry at Harvey Norman or Microsoft.

Yea read all that but pretty vague. 

Im more wondering if Harvey Norman are liable under consumers act. As I have heard retailer is responsible for 1st month and Microsoft after that.

I think you'll find that MSFT don't give anyone Warranty stock.  That may seem frustrating but I don't know of anyone every having a bad outcome from Microsoft Warranty.  I know of plenty of horror stories with major retailers.

If it broke within 3 days of purchase, I would have pushed for a replacement/refund under CGA from the retailer. As for warranty claim on Xbox One with Microsoft, it's quicker and better if you send it. My Xbox One had some HDD issues after 7 months of purchasing it. I filled out an RMA form online on Xbox website, they emailed me a self prepaid UPS ticket. I boxed it all up and rang 0800 UPS NZ number. UPS picked it up, went to Australia and I had a replacement console returned to me within 5 business days. You skip on the part/time where retailer in your town will first ship it back to their HO in Auckland most likely, then they send it to MS which then gets sent back to HO then back to your retailer in your town and then to you.

Do whatever you want to do man.
