Hi Just wondering if any one here has this version running here in NZ??

I do off the gog.com web site and am very pleased with it so far...

However I have Cyberlinks Power Director V14 with its Screen Recorder and so far can only get the sound and the mouse pointer... and a black screen... This doesn't make sense to me, as NMS is supposed to be running in a Windowed mode which PD14 needs anyway ( I use this on FSX fine!!)....

Any info much appreciated.....Laurie

I bought it on steam and overall, it's not a bad game, but it's nowhere near worth $60USD.

The current PC version plays like an untested, unoptimized port that was an afterthought to boost sales, patches are coming so expect many fixes soon.

The gameplay itself can be fun, but is quite repetitive.

After several hours, I ran into the same bugs as a lot of other folks, where the basic breadcrumb trail that leads you to key recipes and items broke. Unable to procure those extremely necessary recipes to be able to progress through the game as intended, I'm forced to make a choice. I can wipe my save and start over, randomly search everything trying to find what the game was supposed to lead me to, or just stop playing.

I chose to stop playing and try again in 2-3 months when its playable. I am not able to get a refund due to my played time, as this is the first game I've ever bought that I'd actually want a refund for as the money is better spend elsewhere for now.

MOO is in early access :)

When i purchased it I got all the old games (from the 90's etc) and the remake.  Sure it's not as great as some of the other games but it's easy and don't need to micro manage everything :)

Really enjoying the game. Haven't had a crash or slow-down yet. The terrain pop up is slightly distracting and should not be an issue on a reasonably powerful PC (I've got an i5, 8GB ram and GTX1070) and looking forward to a patch for that. Otherwise the premise of the game is right up my alley. Exploring at my own pace and chilling. Put about 20 odd hours into it already and still in the first solar system. It's gonna be a time soaker that's for sure :D

Did you pay the $60 or was there a special earlier?

How is it?

It was about that but it was months ago.  I like it, very MOO2.  It has got a lot better and the devs did listen to feedback from the early alpha.

I have looked into getting this game. It just doesn't look that good to me. The graphics are a bit average.

I would be interested to hear about gameplay though. If its really fun to play then I may consider it.

All I can suggest is that you watch some gameplay videos and decide if it is your idea of fun.

Personally I love it and have many hours racked up in it already but I can easily see how people could find it boring and repetitive.

If you are going to buy it for PC then get it from gog.com. the site is legit as they are the people who produce the Witcher series. $AU62 is way better than you will get it anywhere else at the moment.

Ditto here but running just a GTX 560 and looking to increase my system RAM to 16gig soon....No Mans Sky  suites me fine as I enjoy fossicking around mining and trading...The graphics are similar to Second Life which I enjoy also....Both of which you don't have to be doing anything....

I did the non Atlas choice at the beginning as it feels like being lead by the nose type of thing then for me....

Off to do some video work and uploads..

BTW I am using Fraps 3.5.99 to screen capture/photo  OK...........Laurie

I got the game on Wednesday after a bit of research and have put in about 10 hours. Stuttering/FPS drops aside I've been really enjoying the gameplay as I play a lot of Elite: Dangerous and do essentially the same thing (fly around mining resources and trading).

I run two GTX 970s in SLI (along with a 6700K and 16GB RAM) and have come across an issue. After about 2-3 hours the game with drop down to 5 FPS. It turns out it's because of the 970's infamous '3.5GB' VRAM that once it reaches >3.5GB VRAM usage it tanks, with only relaunching the game fixing it. I suspect it's because I'm running a demanding game at 1440p that I'm having these issues, though I've never had this happen before. I have my eyes on the GTX 1080 and a potential upgrade anyway.

I've put about 40 hours into it, similar results as most others here... some small FPS drops and the occasional crash, running on a GTX 970 and get that memory leak leading to massive FPS drop after several hours. There's a new patch out which is supposed to fix some of these issues.

But I'm over it now anyway. Some of it was fun but it got repetitive too quick. My expectations has been lowered after reading the mixed reviews, but I still left feeling somewhat disappointed. A lot of stuff missing from the trailers, even the recent ones from June 2016. The creatures in particular were underwhelming. No extremes in any of the randomly generated worlds. I even found a portal (seen in the E3 2014 trailer) which does nothing, it's a leftover from the cut content. And that awful menu system still haunts me...  I can here those icon sounds when I try to sleep at night!

It's very pretty though. Especially for an OpenGL based game! I might come back to it in a year or so when hopefully there's been more content added.

I am loving the game and have WAY too many hours logged on it. I also have the delightful issue with my 970 and the framerate slowdown. My problem at the moment is that the game seems very unstable with the new patch. I have had three CTDs so far today. The olny other time I have had a crash issue was when interacting with a specific object on a planet so I am finding the crashing at the drop of a hat rather irritating.

I see another patch just came out (well it did on my GOG install, so I assume it is on Steam as well).

Patch 1287169 (19 August 2016)

  • Game failing to save fixed
  • Crash fix during warp
  • Other crash fixes (including issues with Phenom II processors)

Perhaps that will fix the crash issues I seemed to be having.

I pre purchased my copy through steam in march sometime.

I have an I5 16GB ram and a Gforce 960 2gb card, running windows 10 Pro.

I have played the game upwards of 30 hours or so, and haven't had a single crash, I don't know what I'm doing differently than the hordes of people that are suffering nasty issues.

I like the game, it's an open world (universe) game that allows me to pretty much do as I please.

It has things I would like to add (manual markers so I can go back to points on planets would be nice) but on the whole it has kept my interest for the last week.

And before you ask, the only reason I have such a high time on the game so quickly from release - I work some odd hours and have managed to spend a lot of the off time playing.

I have heard some pretty nasty rants against Hello Games, to be honest people need to get a grip on what's really important in life.
