Need help.
My KOTOR works fine in the start-up and the menu. But when I play for more than five minutes the game freezes, and if I click anywhere the game will crash.

I have tried countless fixes:
I have installed it using the Windows Xp Compatibility  mode setup,
Ran as Administrator,
Disabled the "read-only" property in the root file,
I made a shortcut of swkotor.exe and ran it in compatibility mode for XP,
I updated my DirectX,
I set the CPU affinity to only one CPU,
I even downloaded and replaced the previous mss32.dll root file with the new, "fixed" one, even though I have the "Best of PC" version.

What can I do??

Here are my system properties:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU    950 @ 3.07GHz 3.07 GHz
Memory (RAM): 6.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 260

Help please.

Use Windows 7? ;)

I've got a copy from Steam and it seems to work fine in W7.

I think it is the same with windows 7, because maybe it has something to do with my graphics card.

Did you try installing the latest Nvidia drivers?

Visit this link: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/win7-winvista-64bit-270.61-whql-driver-uk.html

Download, install and reboot. Then try again.

Are you setting the CPU affinity after the process begins or using ImageCFG?

I posted about this several years ago when Vista came out. There are some serious issues with the game running on multi core systems.

It might also be worthwhile checking out this suggestion.

I did try having just one CPU, and it didn't work. But voila!!! the Nvidia fix, did work!! Thank you, you are awesome. Just, btw Ill take advantage of this situation and try to fix another bug I have, or... I dont know if it really is a bug, or I am just a noob... Well Ill say it anyway.
When I open doors and footlockers and then close them, sometimes I am unable to move, I can move the camera and If i click another door, or footlocker I go there, but I cant move my character with WASD... The only way to be able to move again is to go back to the main menu, and then load the game again. Any suggestions?? Is this a common bug??

Thank you anyway

Glad to hear that worked.

As for your other bug, it's not something I've encountered before and I've played that game through countless times.

Did you have the retail version of KOTOR ? (discs from a store) or a digital version (downoaded from Steam etc)

If Retail, did you ensure to have the latest patch installed ?

If you buy digital version it is almost always patched to latest version when you download. and steam will update games automatically.

AND Steam (and other digital distributions) can be alot cheaper than the retail versions (KOTOR1 is 9.95USD atm) and cheaper when on special.

Well, I bought the best of PC version that, as I have read on the internet, is supposed to be patched.
