Network settings or ipconfig /all in command prompt (and look for Local Area Connection) will reveal it.

I unplugged my PC from the Ethernet connection in the wall and plugged the power into my second wireless route and went from that to the PC and it wouldn't get it's IP as per this thread I had a long time ago

What's gone wrong?

That is my route which connects to the outside world, in my home network I have a second route which sends the signal wireless

Advanced LAN Scanner.
Searches a given subnet and will show host names on each IP it finds an active host. Will also display what ports that hosts responds to.

Agree with Chevrolux.

Advanced LAN scanner is great and you can get it here http://www.radmin.com/download/previousversions/lanscanner.php

Advanced IP Scanner http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/ used to be great but this later version is flash and slow at the same time.

I'd probably run with LAN scanner as it's quicker and doesn't scan dead machines.

Thanks but the LAN scanner found my PC and my main route - not the sub router.

Any more ideas?

maybe hard reset the wifi router, plug it into your PC and set it up again from scratch?

Yeah that's an option - I use this so that one iPhone & the iPad can get wireless. If that does not work it does not for anything.

Kiwis, I've read this thread through again as well as the one last August when you were adding the wireless router to your network and it's not clear how your network is configured and what you did to get this wireless router added to your network.

The solution to your problem is almost certainly straightforward for the people on this thread but we need information to be able to help you so could you please answer the following questions?

1. What brand/model is the router connected to Xnet? Just so we can tell this apart from your wireless router.

2. What brand/model is the wireless router?

3. Do you have the admin username and password to the wireless router? We don't need to know it, just need to know that you have it.

4. Is DHCP enabled or disabled on the wireless router?

5. How is the wireless router connected to your network?

6. How is your PC connected to the network? Is it plugged into a wall socket? An ethernet port on the wireless router?

7. Most importantly, what are you trying to do? Do you want to add the wireless router to your network so that you can connect to the Internet wirelessly? Did you ever have this going?

If we get this info, we can help fix the problem. If not, everybody's going to be spending more time guessing what your network looks like than actually helping fix the problem.

1. Linksys WRP400
2. Netcomm
3. Yes, if I can connect to it.
4. Should be enabled as per that last thread
5. It's connected into a Ethernet port which connects to my Linksys WRP400
6. My PC is connected via the Ethernet to my Linksys WRP400
7. My Linksys WRP400 is in the garage and the wireless single is weak in the living area. Chorus said I can use old wireless router to send my single around the house to hand held items such as the iPad can have strong wireless signal. It has worked as I've had wireless for 8 months now with the wireless feature on my Linksys WRP400 turned off. I have forgotten it's password though and want to add a iPhone to it, so I want to connect to it and reset the password.

Cool, thanks for all that Kiwis.

I don't know how much of what I'm going to say is obvious to you, so please ignore wherever I'm telling you to suck eggs.

On a home network you generally only want one DHCP server and it needs to point to your Internet router/modem as the gateway out of the network (in your case the WRP400). Home routers generally point to themselves as the gateway so if you had DHCP enabled on the Netcomm wireless router, it would be assigning itself as the gateway and your wireless clients wouldn't work. So, if the Netcomm wireless router has been working fine with your existing wireless devices I'd suggest that it actually has it's DHCP server disabled.

For the Netcomm server to be providing wireless services to your network, it will have an internal IP address. The default it likely 192.168.1.1, but you would probably have changed this when you added the WRP400 to your network. Do you remember whether you disabled DHCP on your Netcomm router and changed it's IP address last August?

When you ran LAN scanner, it would have picked up the Netcomm router if it was on the network at the time. Is your Netcomm router still switched on and providing wireless to your other devices? The scanner should also have picked up the other wireless devices on your network, unless...

You were advised last August to disable DHCP on your Netcomm router and use it as a bridge to the wireless devices but you mentioned on your last post here that the DHCP server is still enabled on your Netcomm router. This will work only if the Netcomm router has been moved to a different network (say 192.168.2.x) and is actually routing between your wireless devices and your WRP400 network. This is considerably more complex than advised last August. Either way, your Netcomm router should still have appeared in LAN scanner if it was switched on.

Without changing anything on your network, and with the Netcomm router switched on;

1. If you do an Ipconfig /all on your PC, what is your gateway address and DHCP server address?

2. With the Netcomm router and as many of your other wireless devices switched on, exactly what devices appear on LAN scanner and what addresses are they?

If you plug your PC ethernet cable directly into the Netcomm router with all other devices (including the WRP400 router) disconnected from the Netcomm, what happens if you?

3. If you do an Ipconfig /all on your PC, what is your gateway address and DHCP server address? If your ethernet adaptor is not able to get an address then DHCP is likely disabled on the Netcomm.

4. With the Netcomm router and as many of your other wireless devices switched on, exactly what devices appear on LAN scanner and what addresses are they?

The thing that doesn't gel Kiwis, is that your Netcomm router should appear in LAN scanner if it's switched on, or your existing wireless devices wouldn't be able to connect to the Internet.
