Having a few troubles with one of these routers. A mate got one and didn't realise it was just a router so I told him to get a Vigor 120 to bridge the ADSL to it.
I set up the Vigor like I normally would for any other router. The linksys then has no trouble dialling up a PPP connection but you can't actually surf anywhere. The UI on this thing is horrible but i have turned off all the QoS type features and parental controls.
The really annoying thing is that when I just connect it directly to an ethernet connection (and set the WAN to DHCP) it has no problem. I haven't tried a double NAT scenario with the vigor but that would totally defeat the purpose of getting the 120.

Anyone run in to this issue?

Cheers,
Sam

Hmm, interesting. I've used plenty of the Linksys routers, including EA3500, and not encountered this issue. It's typically as simple as selecting PPPoE and entering your ISP login details. To test it's connectivity, you can use the ping test in the EA3500 under Administration -> Diagnostics. If this doesn't work, it's WAN connection is not working (possibly PPP auth failure?)

Thats the thing though. It auth's fine and picks up a public IP no problem. Just can't get anywhere from that. Tried on my own connection and same problem.

I am trying to figure out how to load what they call 'classic' firmware. But the UI is so dam basic and stupid there isn't an option. When I get some time will see if telnet is available and maybe there is some stuff I can do in there.

This thing is by far the biggest PoS I have ever used.
Tried on the test DSL at work. Picked up the correct static IP. Can ping stuff and do DNS lookups but can't load web pages or connect to mail servers etc.

Again, works no problem when double NAT'd. Also, works fine when dialling up the PPP on the laptop directly to the Draytek. Screw you Cisco!!! Should just put IOS on all your routers. THAT WOULD BE EASIER!!!!!

ARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, their new UI is one of the reasons I've moved form using Linksys to Asus for most wireless gear. The older Linksys UI was simple, lots of options, and reliable. The new one is fluff and hopeless. Try the classic firmware to see if it helps?

What an absolute abortion of a router....

Using PPP on the WAN of this device was just a no go. My work around was to dial the PPP on the draytek and enable NAT, DHCP etc on there and then set the Linksys WAN to 'Bridge Mode'. It simply disbaled NAT, DHCP, firewall etc but still allows you to use the device as an access point/switch as well as the USB storage.

NEVER GET ONE OF THESE THINGS!!!!!
