Hoping someone may be able to help me. We just had VDSL installed and i'm having a nightmare of a time getting bridging to work on the ZyXEL P-870H-51A V2.

The current setup is P-870H-51A V2 on Port 4 -> Asus RT-N66U on WAN port running DD-WRT

No matter what setup I try the only way to successfully get internet to work is to setup the dd-wrt to DHCP and the ZyXEL on WAN to PPPoE with NAT enabled in other words modem does all the authentication and routing.

Have tried PPPoE with NAT turned off no success.

Have tried Bridging and setting up PPPoE on the DD-WRT with no success click connect on the DD-WRT and it never does VLAN in this case is set to 10 with tagging enabled. WAN Port Assignment is set to 10(I think as I have had issues when rebooting it likes to revert to vlan2 But this sounds like a issue only on reboot according to what I can find)

Everything is up to date firmware wise.

Any body seen this before or know what is going on.

Hi there, to get full bridge mode working try the following:
Make sure the layer 2 interface ptm0 is set to VLAN MUX mode
Create a new WAN interface and select Bridge mode
Enter your VLAN ID (usually 10)
Go to Interface groups and create a new group
Add the desired ethernet port to the group (eth4)
Select the created WAN interface
Finish creating the group and enter your PPPoE settings on your Asus router.

I've done it with the Innbox and the RT-AC66U

Had done everything up to the port assignment but I am still having no luck with it.

One thing I have noticed in the syslog on the dd-wrt router when PPPoE is enabled I get this one line looping over and over again

Jan 1 00:12:36 DD-WRT user.info syslog: pppd : PPP daemon successfully stopped

Jan 1 00:12:38 DD-WRT user.info syslog: pppd : PPP daemon hanging, send SIGKILL

Jan 1 00:12:38 DD-WRT daemon.notice pppd[4940]: pppd 2.4.5 started by root, uid 0

It makes me think that there has to be a problem with the pppd service. but I am buggered if I know what the problem with it is.
Either its normal process is to kill is self if it can't connect or it is crashing. Neither are options I like.

DD-WRT version right now is DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/27/13) big
But I was also having this problem with the next version up.

Are these screenshots from the RT-N66U? If so try to remove all the VLAN tagging and IDs. That's handled by the Zyxel.

Yea as above. No tagging required from your Asus. That message you see in the system log is probably just the PPP dialler giving up after trying so long.

In terms of setting up the zyxel....
Set the layer 2 interface in VLAN MUX mode
Set up the WAN interface for bridging
Tag VLAN 10
Done.

No need to create a interface group.

I included the interface grouping just in case any of the other Zyxel ports are to be used as that is what my setup was like.
So yes, interface grouping is not required if you are not using the Zyxel for anything else.
