Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle ...
I have a Canon PIXMA MP810 printer with a BU-20 bluetooth unit attached. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5100 with XP Service Pack 2 and it has a Bluetooth USB dongle from DSE.
Until last night I was able to print through bluetooth. However, I found the printing a little slow, so went to switch to the USB cable and the two (printer and laptop) would not connect. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver, and this corrected the problem. However .... in the process it looks as though I have now lost the bluetooth connection.
Here's what I can see and what I have tried:
On the LCD panel on the printer, I can reach the Bluetooth settings menu which according to the printer manual indicates that the Bluetooth comunication is enabled.
In Blue Soleil, the printer has been found and is paired. I can also connect to the Serial Port Service.
However, I cannot print - the printer is showing as offline in Control Panel/Printers and Faxes.
In Control Panel/Bluetooth Devices, when I use the Add Bluetooth Device wizard and check the box that says my device is set up and ready to be found, a message comes up saying Windows cannot find any Bluetooth device. So, I go back to the Options tab to check the box that says Turn Discovery On, but when I click OK I receive a message that says the discoverability settings and connection settings could not be saved.
I spent all night googling this error, and tried a couple of fixes:
1. Reinstalling the printer driver
2. Uninstalling the Bluetooth USB device in Device Manager and updating
But I still cannot print - the printer is still showing as offline in Control Panel/Printers and Faxes. I feel like I am going around in circles. Can someone please offer me a step-by-step solution?
Thanks so much!!
