Few days ago I replaced my vdsl tplink modem and got this new fritzbox 7490 from my provider. Previously I used RJ 11 connectors with flat 4 wire phone cable and everything was fine. But now obviously I have to use RJ 45 connector for fritzbox. And now I have problem with my iptv component of my service ( I do not have a phone line I only use adsl and iptv with my service provider). So now I have problems with iptv - when I watch television picture stops from time to time and freezes for about half to one second and then it resumes again. Internet on the other way it is working fine. Problem is that my wall socket is very far from my tv and my computer and my stb so I have to use 10m cable to connect my modem and wall socket. I am asking you what is the proper way of connecting my modem and my wall socket with this same 4 wire flat phone cable using rj11 and rj45 connectors on ends of this cable? I tried every posible way of connection using cat6 cable and connecting it directly to my wall socket wires using only two wires from cat6 cable and also tried all the possible solutions with this flat cable but still there are issues again with my televison.

So can anyone please explain to my is this problem related with false or should I say wrong wiring and if so can anybody help me to do this with this 4wire flat cable because it is easier for me to use this cable.

Thanks in advance.

Again to mention my wall socket has only 2 wires (blue and white) and modem has rj45 socket.

Fritzbox should be situated near the wall socket with a short as possible cable, e.g., 1 metre. Then either run cat6 from modem LAN side Ethernet to TV over floor, data cable the house, or implement a mesh wireless solution.

Well I do.not have a power socket near my phone socket. And I only asked if somebody can explain does it matter if I use flat phone cable with both rj11 and rj45 connectors? If I can use it does it matter how the wires are crimped inside connectors or I can just use 2 middle contacts and 2 wires on both rj11 and rj45? I mean I tried this and still its a no go.So you think that cable lenght is the issue here?I ask because on previous modem I did not have this issue.

DSL signal should be on pins 4,5.

https://en.avm.de/service/fritzbox/fritzbox-7490/knowledge-base/publication/show/56_Assignment-of-the-cables-and-sockets/

It's very unlikely that 1 second breaks in IPTV service have anything to do with the DSL cable as a DSL break would result in resync that would take many seconds to re establish.

Then you think this issue is definitely not related to cable pinwiring but to the cable lenght from socket to fritzbox itself?

This problem could be any number of things, not just the DSL cable. If you are getting DSL sync and the connection generally works, then a cable 10m long should be fine. Can you just try your old modem instead?

Check the DSL connection stats in the modem then, and make sure the connection is solid and sync rates are whatever is expected in Bosnia. If that's OK, then I suggest contacting your provider for troubleshooting the IPTV side of things.

Do you have VDSL or ADSL and what speed does your modem synch to the line at? This might change depending on whether you use the flat extension cable as the line pair won't be twisted.

Our connection is quite slow so we don't try to watch streaming tv and download much at the same time.

That sync rate should be easily high enough for IPTV, and 0.5 CRC/min is probably OK. Don't think this is likely to be your cable. Suggest contacting your provider to troubleshoot the IPTV side of things. Given they've supplied the modem, and presumably the rest of the system, then they should have access to the right tools to diagnose.

Well that is the problem. They say that my line is perfect and that problem is somewhere inside my building. As they are installing fiber optic cables very soon they say that only then I will be problem free. But then why did not I have same problems before?

I will try to get old modem and test it.And if it works normally with old.modem then the problem lies somewhere in fritzbox!?
