Hi all

I am getting 2 X50-POE AP's devices and a POE switch, I have been trying to figure out what router to get with it.

I Am guessing I can get any router and then turn off the Wi-Fi, so i can use the X50 AP's for Wi-Fi.

Was looking at this - https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETTPL9406/TP-Link-Deco-M4-Whole-Home-Mesh-Wi-Fi-System---1-P

The house will be about 180m2 floor size, so guessing this will do? Otherwise I could get a Spark Modem for my fibre and turn off the wifi

You can also get the Spark router, use WiFi and use the Spark Smart Mesh 2 (available from spark stores or online) as a wired or wireless mesh. These are 4x4 Wireless AX routers with excellent performance likely coming in cheaper than your option.

The spec of them don't match up to what I am after, with the Spark Smart Mesh 2, you have to use an AC Adapter as well.

I am looking to be as clean as possible, hence the POE option on the X50 and using a POE switch.

Will also be using the POE switch to power the security camera's down the line.

I ended up getting the two x50-poe's and a Netgear POE 8 port hub, also ordered the x20 Fibre router.

Should be future-proofed now for POE Security cam's etc.. down the road.

Looking at the specs for the X50-poe on PB Techs site https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETTPL6525/TP-Link-Deco-X50-PoE-AX3000-Dual-Band-WiFi-6-Whole

The X50-poe has a router mode that supports Dynamic IP, PPPoE and Tag VLAN So I would have thought you could have used one of them as your router.

Isn't X50 POE a router also which can be plugged into the ONT directly in router mode? Assuming this is the one you got: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETTPL6505/TP-Link-Deco-X50-PoE-AX3000-Dual-Band-WiFi-6-Whole

In which case you don't need the X20.

I cancelled the X20 and will use the 2x X50-POE devices for now to see if I get enough coverage
