My fibre setup seems to be working OK (931 and 433Mbps speedtest just now) but I'm not sure my old Spark Technicolor Gateway TG582n is up to scratch. Should I replace it?

I suspect you have a HG659. As that can do gigabit speeds. The wireless coverage is a bit average and has weird issues when you connect more than 32 devices, but apart from that for a 8 year old router it should still be ok.
