Real problems negotiating the CISCO and site and presales haven't been too helpful so perhaps somebody here can help.
Situation: dark fibre channel connection coming into a location, going from the FC MUX (Gb) to a Cisco 2960 Switch (not sure what model). The rest of the switch has 10/100 ports on them and they go into the patch panel to distribute throughout the office.
Have a team that want Gb ethernet connectivity over the WAN. Not sure how to enable that. I am guessing that existing Cisco switch can't do it since it appears to have only one Gb port (uplink) which is used to connect to the WAN. So perhaps I need a small Gb switch I can connect the 2960 downstream to (Gb) and patch that switch to the port that the team that wants Gb connections, while patching a 10/100 port on that switch to the inbound port on the 2960?
Does that make sense?
Any other ways I could do this?
Thanks for any ideas or pointers
