Hi guys just to recap my problems im now using win XP Pro on my Desktop and 98se on the laptop just so you remember here my original post
(Hi Lads
I have a Desktop with broadband Via a nic run surfboard modem running 98se, i would like to share its internet connection with my laptop running 98se.
All i have is two Tecom usb dongles and so far all i have managed id file sharing! Will this cofiguration work for internet sharing?
I dont have much networking knowledge so im stuck really even with the basics although i can run a couple of machines together for gaming on nics.
I read the guides but im still lost there doesnt seem to be one for se.
I could really do with help cofiguring the bluetooth TCp/ip adapter, no matter what i do i get a PPP protocol error.)

Now i tried to follow the guide by D Hettle for the Ipaq and XP but im confused having just gone over to XP were the Guide finishes for the Ipaq and starts for XP.Will this guide help me setup the server side.Do i still have to pair the devices with the mix of operating systems?

Thanks
Steve

Good move on XP! Anyway, if you follow the guide you mention (except for the things clearly marked as iPaq) you'll have all the server configuration you need to use the connection sharing.

Yes, pairing is required, and it helps to have both computers close - or someone to help you. To pair you'll have to enter the same number (you choose it) in both computers.

From the client side, simply install the Bluetooth software, look for the icon corresponding to the server on your Bluetooth Places, right-click it and you'll find "Connect to LAN". Select this option and you should see a dialog box saying "Connecting to LAN". And that should be all you need to do.

You'll probably have to authorise the access the first time you use it. Pay attention to a notification bubble in the system tray, close to the Bluetooth icon. You have to be quick (10 seconds I think) because it may go away after this time. If you miss it, no problem, just try again.

Let us know how it goes!
