Hi All

I upgraded to OS 3.0 and cannot establish a bluetooth connection with anything.

i have a 2G ipod touch 16GB and have tried to pair with:

Alpine CDE 103EBT headunit - no luck
Motorolla headset - yes i know its not for headsets (rather headphones) but i was trying everything
Dell Vostro 1510 laptop - kinda tried to establish something but no prompts for codes etc and no pairing

i am reluctant to go and buy some bluetooth headphones as I am wondering whether the bluetooth simply doesnt work on these things.

It just stays in the bluetooth menu saying it is discoverable but nothing sees it and it sees nothing.

When the laptop was doing something it bought up the mac address of the ipod but failed to establish the profile hence got no further.

Any suggestions, am i doing it wrong?

I think the bluetooth for iPod Touch 2nd Gen is for A2DP (Bluetooth headphone) and Nike+ only.

Correct, and my headunit supports A2DP profile so it should work.

I deleted all paired devices on the head unit including cell phone and others phones then attempted the pairing process with my cell phone out of range but it still couldnt "see" the ipod, nor could the ipod see the head unit.

I figued to try other devices (laptop, headset) just to see if they could attempt to negotiate the pairing process, but it appears they do not.

I tried as other suggested on the net to delete the network settings and try again, no luck.

I tried turning wi-fi off, just using bluetooth. No luck.

Any other suggestions?

Did your laptop pair with your headunit and did it work?

Just to be sure, I don't think you can pair your iPod Touch to laptop via bluetooth.
