How about this....

What I am planning to do here is to setup my Jabra BT200 headset as a cordless headset/phone connected to my notebook. The phone line is connected to my modem so that I can make phone call from the notebook and have voice conversation on my Jabra BT200 headset.

I have tried "How to configure your desktop/laptop to use the Bluetooth headset" (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/click_thru_content.asp?ContentId=449&URL=content.asp?contentid=903) and I manage to get the voice transfer from my notebook to my Jabra BT200 headset but not the voice from Jabra BT200 headset to the notebook.

I did set the Sound Playback/Recording and Voice Playback/Recording under the "Sounds and Multimedia Properties" to Bluetooth Audio but the result is the same. Any idea on this....

Window XP Pro
WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software 1.4.2 Build 10
Mavintec Bluetooth USB Adapter (http://www.mavintec.com/product_bt_usb.eng.html)
Jabra BT200

If you have the Volume Control icon on your System Tray you can double-click it to open the application. If not open your Control Panel, double-click the Sounds and Multimedia icon and select the checkbox to show the Volume Control.

Once there, select the menu Options | Properties. Use the radio button to select Recording. You should see something like this:

Make sure the Microphone input is selected.

PS. Please don't double-post.

Hi yl,

I am struggling with exactly the same problem: Jabra BT200 - CSR adapter Widcomm 1.4.2.10, garbled voice received from headset.

Unfortunatly there's not much I can tell you. I contacted many company's support, but no reply or soultion yet. What I know from forums and experience is that the problem is with the speed the voice is recorded at. Try using Voice Recoder in Windows and you will see that seconds elapse very slowly when recording, so when your voice is played back normal speed it is actually too fast to understand. I found that this newer driver version is even worse.

So no solution yet, I guess its a driver problem. Someone somewhere wrote that he switched back to win98 and it work just fine but I just don't wanna bother that much. Allegedly WinXp sp1 support bluetooth but I don't really see!

I'll wait and check the net regularly, maybe some comes up with some idea. There's not much else I can do.

Cheers

There was a lengthy discussion about this here. Have you looked yet?

Goroman,
The problem with my side is that I can't managed to get my voice transfer to the other party at all however, when I use the sound recorder to do a test. It worked and recorded my voice but the voice recorded is ok ....
Same things here, that I have sent many emails to my dongle manufacturer but a single reply at all. Wonder why the put up the support/contact us link for Fxxx.....

Freitasm,
Thanks for the links.... Glad to know that there are ppl discussing about this somewhere else. So far I don't have the speed problem...

freitasm,
thanx for the link, the first forum that was REALLY talking about the problem. Great stuff.

as you probably saw in my previous comment i was already running driver 1.4.2.10 but the problem persisted. i cliclked around in complete despair ;) and found out that once i set the headset profile in bluetooth setup to have secure connection (just in 1.4.2.10 driver) than its fine. not crystal clear but ok for conversation.

its funny that D-Link published this newer driver only for revisions B4! but they say that B3 is able to work with a headset! yeah right.. it works if you only want to hear the stupid gongs of windows!

yl,
by the way, the mic volume control is greyed out on my computer too, so i guess its not a sign of your problem. hope u find out whats causing your problem pretty soon

Have you downloaded the drivers again? Apparently Chrismax had problems with the original release and they've just put the drivers up again...

The Sound Recorded with Bluetooth Headset Playes Too Fast

Well, I have the same problem...
The only thing I found out is that when I am using another recording tool like Total Recorder and I set up the recording format to 8kbps and 8kHz than it works fine. So the conclusion is that the BT Headset transmits the audio with this sampling rate and when received by the system which is sampling it with a different rate the sound get screwed up...
The sound sent ovet BT link is for sure a digital one.
The first question is whether the received sound goes through the system sound card or directly to the application ? Probably it does go through the sound card cause the Total Recorder is processing the sound prior to the processing in the sound card.
Well, I think it may have sth to do with the versiuon of DirectX as I have read here that it works fine with Win98. One day I saw somewhere in my system an option to configure the direct sound device but I can't find it back and I dont remember where it was..

Cheers, tony12624120
