Hi

My Blackbox M10 noise cancelling  headphones broke - the black plastic headband cracked.

As this was purchased from 1- day sales and about 2 years old I wrote to Phitek to see if this can be repaired.  I was told to send in the faulty M10 and 2 days later, I was told that they are sending me a replacement for free.

Very impressed with their service as I was not expecting this!

I suppose buying a good  NZ product. paid me in the end.

BTW   This is my 1st posting here so dont bite my head off !

Just wanted to share something positive with fellow geekzoners,

I have had the same experience with Blackbox and Phitek. Amazing customer service. They didn't have to honour a query I had with them outside warranty but they were great.

Welcome to Geekzone!

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Hi

My replacement M10 I was raving on about broke again ( the right ear cup came off its swivel joint)
And yes , you guessed it, I wrote to Phitek and was asked to return it.

They did admit that it was a bad batch and sent me the special edition M10 that includes a hard carry case.

I was so pleased as my old headset,  as mentioned in this post was well beyond its warranty period.

Special mention to Paul who was so helpful and went the extra mile to retain me as local Phitek customer

I think its always worthy to mention when you have a pleasant experience, as more often we intend to write about the not so pleasant stuff

cheers

Howdy folks.

I just wanted to thank the OP for telling the community about Phitek's excellent customer support.

When I read this thread 2 weeks ago I contacted Phitek and had the same experience as qwertee. After identifying my broken and out-of-warranty BlackBox M10s as a pair from a problematic batch, Phitek sent me a new pair of M10SEs! Gotta say I'm pretty stoked.

'Thank you' qwertee, Phitek and geekzone!

I wonder if it's worth contacting them about mine? Similarly my band has cracked, it seems like a real design fault and glad to hear it may be just from a certain period. Mine also became terribly sticky on the flat parts near the switch (and other earpiece). In the end I cleaned this up with Desolvit and glued the bands with araldite, so they can no longer be adjusted for fit.

Given their good history of sorting this stuff out, it may be worth emailing them. My experience with my M10s is such I wouldn't have tried them again but maybe the newer ones don't have this fault.

I have had TWO out of warranty repairs handled by Phitek, and the second was a free replacement of the first, by the time the second was replaced I think I was 6 years out of my original warranty. I can't recall the last time I was more impressed with a companies support.

I did post here at the time(s).

They are also very good noise cancelling, though I think the original m14's were better than the new ones.

I have now contacted them and will wait to see what happens; feel it's worth it given these highly positive reports of outstanding customer service. I still like the sound and there's really no substitute for active noise cancelling (I took my new phones on a flight a few months ago, assuming their closed nature would make them useful on a plane - it wasn't to be the case!) so would love to be able to use them in public (ie without superglue showing!).

I've had a pair of M10s since they first came out.
Great sound.
Good acoustic isolation and comfortable, even wearing glasses.
They haven't broken so I can't comment on Phitek after-sales service.
My only complaint is the fiddly battery compartment - getting the battery out can be tricky.

EDIT  Cheaper than Bose noise-cancelling headphones, and they sound better.

just an update.

BlackBox replied to me instead of Phitek:

"Phitek is no longer looking after the Blackbox brand and we want to retain our customers...etc.

and we don't have the spare part that is broken in your headphones but we are offering you a 30% discount on a blackbox M10 SE model."

it's still $299 after 30% is $209 ?

Cheers
