freitasm:ActiveMatrix:rhysb: Are you running Forefront Protection for Exchange at all? I've had two Exchange servers with excess traffic and it turned out to be the Kaspersky engine stuck on each one. It was downloading about 160MB each hour on https.
Hi there - We're not running this product no, but also the traffic is between an iPhone and the Exchange Server.
Those AV and security software run as plugins on the Exchange server so the traffic would still go to the server. Check that Forefront, Kaspersky, GFI Securit or anything else is running.
Perhaps the Exchange Store has a problem and sync fail for that mailbox? When was the last time you did a backup/consolidation on your server? Is it automated?
surfisup1000:matts231: I've had these kinds of issues before. It's sometimes when sending a large email attachment that somehow fails over and over. The phone continually tries to resend it, creating the insane data usage.
He said attachments were disabled.
But not from sending. Something stuck in the outbox folder in the phone perhaps?
Morning Guys,
The Exchange Server is backed up nightly to tape so logs are flushed etc. Exchange 2010 is pretty good when it comes to corruption and is a big step up previous versions, but it's worth while running an integrity check which is able to be done online now via Power Shell. I'll check this out. It's interesting this didn't happen on his previous Nokia E72 handset, but Nokia's cut down ActiveSync client may well be doing less than the iPhone client.
I'll check out the Sync Conflicts folder via OWA which was an excellent suggestion and see if that points me in the right direction.
I'll post back after checking these items to keep everyone in the loop.
Cheers,
Jay
