michaelt: Don't go for the Belkin ones, they'll use a Prolific chip at best. Get something with an FTDI chip inside, especially if you want to use it under Windows Vista/7/8. nz.rs-online.com sells them at reasonable prices.
richms: Nothing wrong with the prolific chipset if you get a real one.
The bad rep comes from all the fakes from china. I would expect belkin are not using fakes.
Rickles: How many do you want? I have one, but it's not Belkin ... worked fine on an XP machine using supplied driver, so assume will work on anything else too.
