I have 2 Seagate SAS drives for sale.

One is an 8TB EXOS 7E8, the other is a 4Tb Constellation ES.3 SED.

NOTE these are SAS only, NOT SATA!!!

$300 for the 8Tb and $150 for the 4Tb

These have never been used, and now no longer required as the server they where spares for has been decommissioned.

PM me is interested. Will ship free within NZ, (at buyers risk, although I'll pack the crap out of they ship in).

Trouble is, google doesn't know because seagate and wd have been telling lies about this.

Exos drives are top end enterprise drives - high performance, not bulk storage. I have several larger SATA ones and they are all CMR, not shingled. I would expect the SAS versions not to be shingled either as they are the same drive with a different interface. The Constellation is also an enterprise drive and I would be surprised if it was shingled as it is also marketed as a performance drive, but I do not have any of them. The downside of my Exos drives is that they are noisy when the heads move - the noise is not so loud, but it has a quality that penetrates and can be annoying. But they are very fast.

Despite what they have said in the past, Seagate have, this year, admitted that some of their Exos drives are shingled.

I did also wonder if it would be safe to stick to SAS drives but there are shingled SAS drives out there.
