How good is the beamforming on the DIR-890L in practice? Interested in getting this if it means I can get more than one bar of signal at the bottom of the garden.

Great question. Probably the reason why I kept this for long to get the wifi range on my security cameras. Yes the signal was superior to any mesh system I had. I had two wifi routers running for this purpose.

I think the Spark modem is a v1 instead of v3. Here's the quick start guide for v1 with the same product no. of VRV9517UWAC34:

I don't know what the product no. is for v3.
