As a heads up a month or two ago I tried to sell a server of a similar vintage and got this feedback:

Going to be brutally honest here.....

There is no value in anything below a G9 as it cannot run support versions of ESXi (7.0 and above) and Windows Server 2019

and once 2019 and ESXi 7 go EOL then there is no value in G9s either

Thanks for the insight - my OS of preference is XCP-NG which still runs this server very well - up to the potential buyer to decide if it suits their needs though.

Bump - Will accept $250, plus I have a friend driving up to Auckland this weekend, so if you get in quick the server can be brought up to Orewa for free.

Note: While clearing the RAID arrays today I noted that one of the 300GB drives was reporting as faulted - all other drives were reporting as healthy.

As cool as it would be to have these cores and memory to experiment with, I suspect most people are scared off by the power requirements - if you look at how much you would spend on electricity over say 2 years, you could take that amount and spend it on something new which sips a small fraction of the power while delivering the same compute...

I reckon you would have more luck on TradeMe - always someone looking for a bargain on there.
