This kind of thing always annoys me. I rang up Xtra a while ago, I could not understand what the person was saying at all, in the end I politely ended the conversation and gave up trying to seek help. Also when seeking help for Xbox Live I was greeted by a voice I had no hope in understanding, this ended similar to the Xtra call excaept this time I emailed Xbox and as well as seeking help for my original problem queried why they did not have people answering the phone who spoke English as a first language. I never did get a reply.

Having worked for a telemarketing company before (NOT by choice lol) all you have to do is politely ask for your number to be removed from their dialing lists. If they do not understand that, ask for a supervisor or manager, and ask for them to remove your number from any and all calling lists they may have.

The one I worked for always had the option of "Remove caller from database"

Remember it's not the agent who chose to call you, so don't make their life hell. :P

Both Hewlett Packard and Dell support lines link to overseas call centres that can be extremely frustrating to deal with - especially when you know they're just reading from a checklist that's not relevant (i.e. questions relevant to an enduser when you're a professional geek and are way past trying the things on their list).

On the other hand Belkin support is handled from Australia. One of my Belkin UPS died yesterday during a self test. After two e-mails (quickly responded to by the way), the person on the other side asked me for name, address and he's sending a replacement unit, collecting the faulty on on the process. Really good stuff!
