I notice that my "service provider" (2degrees) is now "transmitting settings to" my Fritz!box 7530 every 22 hours whereas I am fairly sure it previously only happened at night and not everyday.

I am trying to correlate these events with problems we have when streaming video - does anyone know exactly what is being changed daily here?

Cheers.

It is very rare that 2D actually updates the settings in your FritzBox.  What those "The service provider successfully transmitted settings to this device" messages actually mean is that the FritzBox contacted the TR-069 server and they did a handshake to see if there are any settings changes.  Normally, there are no changes and all that happens is that both ends mark that they have checked the settings and all is OK until the next check.  Checks are supposed to be done every x hours where x < 24, so that the time of day the check happens will migrate a little with each check.  This prevents there from being too many FritzBoxes doing the checks at the same time and overloading the TR-069 server.

Every so often we get someone noticing the messages for the first time and getting worried about it.  There is absolutely no problem with what is happening.  The settings involved are things like how your 2D VOIP phone connection works.  Changes do not get made to settings you have adjusted, unless you are having a problem and have contacted 2D for help and then they may review your settings and adjust things to help diagnose or fix your problem.  There definitely will not be random issues being caused by settings changes.  If you are having such issues, you should contact 2D about those issues.

My guess is that the slightly disconcerting form of the English in that message is likely to be a mistranslation from the original German.  It does not actually mean what it says.
