Signed up with Snap yesterday online and got the courier of my Fritz!Box this morning, which is incredibly fast. Hopefully Churos will act as soon for the connection.

One question was i found the leaflet inside the box said:
"We have pre-configured.......UFB:
Configured LAN 1 as a WAN port
.......
3. Plug the yellow Ethernet cable into the yellow LAN 1 port on the back of the modem (2); plug the other end into port 1 on the device installed by the fibre provider."

Which means i only left with 3 Gigabit-Lan to connect to other devices with cable? I would have choosen 7340 if i knew this earlier as anyway i still need to connect to a switch or hub, just because i have 4 devices to be connected through cable.

That is quick! I signed up for the Fritz 7340 last week and am still waiting for it to arrive!?!

The information about the 2 Fritz's is on Snap's website in the order page, no reason for not knowing this before ordering one...

7390 also has simultaneous dual band WiFi support for 2.4GHz and 5GHz band.

WRP400 is a router with no DSL modem. It's still normal for a router only device to have a dedicated WAN port.

Anyway, no doubt after a few more device purchases around the home, you'll be wishing you got a 16 port Gigabit switch rather than a 8 or something :)

hi in that case do you think i can use my current WRP400 as a switch for my Fritz!Box in order to connect more devices.

WRP400 is just an Ethernet router, it's not a modem so doesn't support xDSL.

The only device supporting both xDSL and Ethernet that I can recall off the top of my head that has a dedicated WAN port is a few of the Zyxel's. Pretty much everything else on the market uses a LAN port for the WAN.

The good thing about this as it means people don't need to change hardware as they move between connection types.

Which I disabled as the fritzbox wifi is soooo slow. 2MB/s on 5ghz band... same notebook achieves 25MB/s on my linksys E4200.

Looking back on it, I should have bought the model down because the features I purchased the 7390 on do not work well (dect station/dual wifi).

You're obviously in a bit of whierd RF environment or have things configured differently on both devices.

While the wireless coverage from the 7390 isn't fantastic the 40Mhz 5GHz performance is pretty good, you should be able to hit 80Mbps on it.

The E4200 on the other hand is a pretty average device, I've never seen any impressive results from it.

My 7390 wifi is great. Have about 10 devices, three with dual channel and they're all fast.

At first it was ok but then some new hotspots turned up in the hood. For some reason it seemed to auto select the most used channel. I suspect this is a bug that causes people to think it has bad wifi. Since I switched manually to a clear channel for 2.4GHz it's been ultra quick and good range.

Worth a play around at least - unless you're happy with your E4200.

I also agree with you on that as well, My Fritzbox 7340 picked channel 11 for its wifi broadcast and there are 16 other wifi networks on the same channel.

I disabled 2.4 broadcast and changed the 5ghz network SSID, then only put certain devices on it and it helped a lot. My Asus RT-N16 performs 2.4ghz duty far better. I have two other weak neighbouring networks nearby and that's it. L

Before the annoying power saving features were too aggressive and caused certain notebooks and phones to drop or have significantly reduced performance, as the fritzbox suddenly decides nothing is associated with it, and then you get constant swapping between the 2.4 and 5ghz networks.

16 other networks on ch11 doesn't necessarily mean that it will be the worst performing channel. There are a lot of factors to determine such as the strength of networks on 1 and 6 and noise margin. You could have fewer networks on 1 and 6 with much stronger signal levels that in the real world could deliver worse performance.

got connected to Snap yesterday and the process was smooth and easy.
