I recently signed up to Snap! VDSL, which was relatively painless, made our first payment and thought all was good to go.

A couple of days passed and I didn't hear anything, though the money went from the bank account, so I thought I'd give them a ring.

After a small wait on hold I got through to a rep. we were going through all the details, and had I not pushed and specifically asked if there were issues with the account and transfer, I wouldn't know. I didn't get any email from then, a phone call or even a text to say "please ring to sort."
So I went through and gave him all the details to correct the transfer and assumed everything was all right.

A few more days passed and I still hadn't heard anything, by now, we are 5 working days into the 10 working day turn around, but as far as I was concerned, no plan had been made for the jack-point install or swap over. So I called again to get an update on my account and it turns out the Internet is scheduled to be connected and jack-point installed on the 24th.

Again, great that it has been scheduled, but no communication yet again. Not an email, not a phone call, not a text. How would I know to be home for the Tech to install the jack-point if I'm not given sufficient notice to be able to be home? Would they just expect that on the day, that I would be home to let him in?

I really hope this isn't the start of a horrible trend with my new ISP.

So, I've just had the friendly chorus Tech come out and install all the required bits and pieces and I am now connected to VDSL2.

While the communication was less than stellar from Snap, I'm willing to forgive a little, a. because its Christmas, and b. because the actual connection process has otherwise been not too bad.

Here are my line stats connected to VDSL.

Looks like you've started on DLM1 with that latency, nice. What modem are you using?

You may have to explain what that even means to me :P I take it that is good?

I'm using a DrayTek Vigor DV130. Pretty cool modem tbh.

Heh, yeah, DLM1 is pretty much the best profile the DLM process will put you on. Everything you need to know is pretty much in SamF's post here:

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=90&topicid=105744

on DLM1 most people seem to get latency at around 4-7ms.

I thought a few people were having issues getting the draytek VDSL modems working nicely, but maybe they've sorted them out now. Not sure if you can SNR tweak it though, that's what I like about the fritzbox... though bridging isn't possible with them so there are pros and cons.
