Hi everyone,

we just moved our small business to VDSL and Snap plus. The voicemail setup so far has been an absolute nightmare. One thing we absolutely need is a broken/changed tone on phone pickup to let us know we have voicemails waiting. Snap's FAQ says

"When you have one or more unheard voice messages waiting, you will hear a stuttering dial tone when you pick up your phone."

However no matter what settings we try we cannot get this to happen. This was one of the reasons we switched to Snap as Voda Easy Office had no notifications (only a red light on the modem which doesn't help when its in a server room). So far customer service haven't been particularly helpful, just advised us to activate MWI under Snap Plus settings which we have done but this doesn't enable the broken/changed tone.

Anyone had any success with this ?

cheers
Mike

I use snap plus with a fritz box and the stuttered tone works perfectly. What hardware are you using?

Doesn't work for me either.

I just rely on the emails.

Are you using the Fritzbox as DECT base station?

no we have the cordless phones on their own DECT base stations and that is plugged into the Fritzbox directly. We have tried different brands &  plugging in directly rather than via our patch panel but no joy.

I'm unsure what you have tried with your settings on the Fritz!box but this is the setting on the 7390, which I presume is the same.

If not already done you'll need to log into the Fritz!Box and set it from there.

As much as I love Snap I really don't think they have nailed the Voice side of things.

If I was a business owner I would shift my line to 2Talk or WxC or have the VoIP thing fairly well nailed down.

You could still terminate 2Talk on the Fritzbox to take advantage of the ATA but I would be more inclined to just use an SPA112 as they pretty much work with out fail.

Thanks cjmchch, we had that setting on but all that seems to do for us is call the phone briefly after a voicemail is left and leave a code *649* on the phone. Turning on and off doesn't affect the lack of broken tone unfortunately.  I've got the same problem on my home line with snap as well but its not so important there.

Never had a broken dial tone to indicate voicemail here either. Have that option ticked. The voicemail light doesn't come on on my uniden phones either like it used to on old fashioned Telecom service.
