When signing up with Snap, it never mentioned whether it was included (wiring and maintenance), but also didn't give the option to pay for it either.

I don't need it at the moment, but I usually do get it regardless.. just in case.

FYI: I'm on Snap! Naked VDSL.

It will show up on your account at: https://myaccount.snap.net.nz. If you can't remember your login details you'll have to call up or hope someone from Snap sees this post and asks you to PM them your customer details :).

It also looks like they may not be offering it on Naked services. I know they did have the Broadband only W&M for a while.

Cheers.

ADDITION NOTES: What is this 'Wireing & Maintenance' thing.

HISTORY - traditionaly when a NZer wanted a phone they subscribed to the NZ Post Office telephone network - you rented everything - line, wire, phone etc and if something broke it was fixed by the NZPO

After several transformations of this we ended up with Telecom and they seperated out: the line rental charges / the internal wreing maintanence charges and gave the phones away. So if the Line Broke - Telecom fixed it, If you paided the Wireing & Maintenance charge then if something failed (Fair Ware and Tare) then telecom fixed it, and if your phone broke - you replaced it.

Then with the network opening up to competion - the other providers only rented the lines from Telecom - if they had a 'wireing & Maintenance' option it is up them but this wasn't with Telecom and so if someing failed inside the house the cost of repairs may or may not have been passed onto the Provider by Telecom. ( The Service Companys were bulk paided for faults and it actualy depended on the service tech what got passed on billing wise )

Now with the actual seperation of the Network and Provider (Chorus/Telecom) - All Providers rent the line from Chorus (apart from those that have there own) and only Telecom as a provider have 'Wireing and Maintence' with Chorus for 'Fare ware and tare repairs' inside.

So now if the Line breaks in all cases - Chorus fix it without additional charges (There are exceptions to this - ie on chargeing for damage)

Then

If your line is faulty in the house - Telecom W&M and if it fits the criteria - Chorus fix it Free of Charge.

If your line is fauly in the house - No Telecom W&M or it doesnt fit the W&M criteria - Chorus will only fix with your orthorisation and charge Telecom - who will more than likely on charge you.

If your line is faulty in the house - Your Provider say fix to demarc or doesnt say anything - Chorus will only fix with your orthorisation and charge your provider - who will more than likely on charge you.

If your line is faulty in the house - Your Provider say fix to CPE - Chorus will fix and charge your provider - who will more than likely NOT on charge you.

Looking then at my account, I don't appear to have it.

What's more, I can't even add it online if I wanted to after the fact.

I have to say, the Snap! website isn't exactly the best to navigate. An example, if I login, it doesn't store my info in a cookie or even a session, if I navigate to a different page from my summary, it boots me out and to view my account information, I have to sign in again..

Still definitely wasnt offered it when I signed up, but good to see it's there now when people sign up.
