On the Snap account summary page there are two options for buying extra data if you're likely going to go over your limit - 'purchase additional data' and 'additional data packs'.

'Purchase additional data':

And 'additional data packs':

The second one is obviously far better value than the first, both can be added at any time, and the second one can be set to be removed at the end of the month. So with the possible exception of the $2, $5 and $10 ones, why would you ever pick the first option? Genuinely struggling to understand the reason for the two very different offerings.

Unless you are planning on using 5GB or less, and can remember to turn the data pack off by the end of the month, then there is not any good reason to use the additional data.  On a related note it looks like the current plans that Snap offer do not have the option of adding monthly data packs as, if you want more than 150GB, the unlimited option is a lot better value.

It's well known that Snaps additional data is a scammy trap for ignorant users. The prices have been the same for at least 2 years.

What I've done in the past is add an additional monthly recurring block, and then immediately chosen to remove it the end of the billing month. That way you don't need to remember to remove it later.
