It appears you can't have an open port on Flip - so you can't Torrent is that right?

You will still be able to download torrents but they will run slower. With the ports closed people wont be able to upload from you.

Do you mean you can't add custom port forwarding to your router?  Seems odd...

Apparently it's Carrier Grade Network which seems to mean no open ports as far as I can tell.

I'm guessing you mean Carrier Grade NAT...

You will still be able to leach those Linux iso's.  Unless you setup a tunnel, like an IPv6 toredo tunnel, you wont be able to seed.

The CGNAT boxes are pretty smart and torrents upload and download without any issues. In testing I saw no discernible speed difference between public IP and the CGNAT speed wise in both upload and download. Any port that is opened due to downloading a chunk will stay open and be available for upload as well as long as your session is current. You won't be able to seed a torrent from scratch though if that's what you are after. Overall it "just works", a lot of (my) time was spent making sure the CGNAT is transparent for 99% of use cases.

I am a member of a book sharing site who are strict about reseeding so download times aren't really an issue as the files are pretty small but seeding is. Looks like there's no easy answer. Thanks though.

Get yourself a VPN and bypass the CGNAT. I use Astrill, it works well, though I set up the VPN direct into windows not using their fairly poor software.
