Guys, I think I should brought this up

Feeling gutted with SNAP. I opened a new account last week (24 months contract) in hope to get SNAP service. They taken my money $170 instantly.

But guess what a few days later got email saying "Snap unable to provide service due to poor credit history and the refund will be processed in the Friday of last month". Don't know how and what their criteria for the credit history although I have thousands in the bank acct. and snap did not request any further evidence to support my credit or whatsoever. Snap solely decided to cancel my account

BUT what really pissed me is the refund process.. YOU TAKE MY MONEY STRAIGHT AFTER REGISTRATION BUT REFUND WILL BE FEW WEEKS (I HAVE TO WAIT TILL LAST FRIDAY OF MONTH)..That is really ridiculous excuse. Me only one customer but if you take 200 new account that is $34000.. you can get interest by holding people's money. WELL DONE SNAP...KEEP CONTINUE YOUR BUSINESS THAT WAY..

For anyone beware of that, if you at the end can't get connection don't expect your money back instant like how they take your money first time.

can't believe they refused a customer who will go with 24 mths contract

That does seem a little over the top. Perhaps having you pay a bond would have been a far better option, as well as placing a credit limit on your account to prevent a large bill.

While I agree they should refund the money promptly, your thread title seems inaccurate. Poor credit history seems like a sensible reason for account rejection.

Yep I agree pay a bond would be a good option and what I don't understand my bank account has over $1000 balance. They can check the in and out money or the last 3 months balance was consistent. I don't know how or what their criteria are but that does not matter anymore.

What is unfair here is they took my money almost instantly they should refund my money the same way or 3 days max not have to wait till end of month.  I am a worker but imagine this happened to people with limited money.  and guess what SNAP can get interest from my money, well my money might be peanut to them but think bigger people who has money holds up.. that single money will adds up

This is my first experience like this.  Never have been in situation where your credit check was poor with other providers (internet, power, etc)

A company has the right to decline based on history. However I believe that they are not entitled to keep the money taken to start the account and the refund should be made immediately.

Well they should ask for more evidence to support my credit background.  Exactly that is why I am gutted. Money taken out instantly and refund is hell of long wait..

Your bank balance is irrelevant. They're simply going to be basing it on your credit history.

I'd suggest you probably should get a free copy of your credit file and find out what aspect of it is preventing a provider from providing you with service because you're simply going to strike the exact same problems with anybody who does a credit check on you.

Ok, well you should do as sbiddle suggests above and get a copy of it to see what possible black marks are on there.

Perhaps you can arrange prepaying a month in advance so you are always in credit? Odd that they didn't discuss it with you in person with options rather than refuse you outright.

Thanks but I will wait the SNAP rep in this forum and see what's their explanation otherwise I am in top gear to go to competitor or just staying with my current provider.

Well the money they took out was the first month fee (in advance payment) plus other stuff.  I also decided to go with them for 24months contract but they just say 'hey we do not want you to be our customer'

exactly they should call to discuss not just sent an email and solely refuse connection and they SHOULD refund my money immediately too not having me to wait until end of month where I can use that money to competitor. They just sucks

They don't care that you can prove that you pay your bills on time at the moment. And only $1000 in the bank isn't anything great if you have loads of other debt etc.

They will be basing this decision on the fact that you have become delinquent enough on at least one payment to be referred to collections.

They are not a bank, and its not viable for them to invest the staff time into processing approvals for service on what is a low price low margin service.

Find another ISP that does prepayment and you should be fine.

There is no guarantee a Snap rep will reply here on a third party forum.
