I recently moved to MyRepublic from Flip, and I am getting lower sync speeds. Used to get around 24/4, now get 17/1 down/up.

 

When you change ISP's would this cause the VDSL DLM to do a re-calibration? I'm wondering if this caused it.

 

Or would it be the new modem I am using (used an NF4V before, now using Technicolor 789ac v2)?

 

Trying to figure out if its the modem, or I should just wait another 10 days for the DLM profile to sort itself out.

Please post line stats.

 

 

 

Lines can reset the dlm process between provider moves, but this is uncommon these days.

 

Different modems WILL have different experiences in sync speed... This can be marginal or very noticable.

 

 

 

 

 

In your case, I'm skeptical about the drop from 4mbit up down to 1mbit. 24 down to 17 i could argue as being ddDLM moving from 6dB to 12dB or a large psd drop.

I did notice quite a difference in speeds on Flip when going from a Netgear DM200 VDSL modem to the NF4V (provided by Slingshot), so thought it possible its the modem. However, I thought MyRepublic would provide the best modem for their service in order to keep customers happy.

 

 

 

This device doesnt seem to have much in the way of stats, heres the info from the broadband page.

Do you still have the old modem? possible to plug it in and test?

 

 

 

The fact that you are only reading the First two bands tells me one of two things

 

     

  1. possibly a filter installed incorrectly
  2. your actually negotiating at ADSL2+

 

 

 

What modem have they provided you? mrp seem to supply quite a range.

 

It's hard for a RSP to provide a modem chipset that works in ALL situations, your line seems slightly long.

Well, I rebooted the Technicolor, and got slightly improved speed, 21/1.4

 

Connected the NF4V and got the same sync rates 21/1.4 so went back to Technicolor.

 

I'm guess that I just have to wait for the DLM to do its thing.

Ok, so definitely negotiating VDSL.

 

 

 

All i can put this down to is possibility a change of dslam, but last i checked for VDSL Flip and MRP use chorus's gear so wouldn't be the case.

 

 

 

I'd ask your RSP to file a nonselfservice, raising exactly what your previous stats are and asking Chorus to check the network end.

 

Past that, As mentioned before. Double check filters etc.
