Has anyone had any luck getting Orcon UFB to run on an Archer C9? From what I can see it should work, but I'm not having much luck.

I've got it set up as DHCP/Dynamic IP, no specified DNS Servers, and VLAN Tagging set (under IPTV, enabled VLAN TAG for Internet Service: is enabled, set at 10. Used dummy values for IP Phone and IP TV, then set LAN1-4 Modes to Internet).

ONT is working fine, it just won't connect to the internet. All other lights on the router are blue except for the sad amber for internet.

I havent had any luck configuring anything except what they throw at you which is a shame as i have a bloody nice router i cant use, so, following this with interest !

This has been a problem with Orcon for awhile that I remember.

They used to use MAC based Auth for their DHCP (don't know if they still do)

Might be worth cloning the MAC address of the Orcon router and seeing if that works (just insure you have TR-069 disabled so you don't get updates designed for the Orcon router!)

We have never done MAC based Auth...ever!...never ever ever! No idea where you got that from.

Aslong as your router does the following (which is standard btw)

VLAN 10 802.1q tagging on the WAN

DHCPv4/v6

Setting all packets to 802.1p 0

Then you are good to go.

I'd expect this stemmed from folk trying to switch out devices, and hitting a single assignment issue rather than actually being anything todo with mac limitations - this isn't America afterall!

Interface doesn't seem the most intuitive, maybe you are supposed to check the "802.1Q Tag" box.

Success! I'm not sure which thing did it - I had IGMP Proxy selected (got rid of that) and then I experienced some weirdness with the original Orcon router not connected, so I did a reboot of ONT, Router, and PC. I seem to remember last time I swapped things over that the network adapter got weird about me switching routers.

For future reference...

Internet Connection Type: Dynamic IP/DHCP
DNS Address: Get Dynamically from IP
No MAC Cloning required

And then settings to ensure VLAN Tagging:

(IP-Phone and IPTV numbers don't really matter, just pick dummy values. I haven't set up VOIP, I don't use the phone line.)

I now have a much speedier wifi router set up, with 5GHz and beamforming to help can cope with how crowded wifi is in my building!

Nice. If you didn't have "802.1Q Tag" checked previously then I think that would've made the difference. Not very intuitive to have that checkbox located beside Internet VLAN only when it presumably applies to IP-Phone and IPTV ports too.

Restarting ONT is probably a good one to add to the list. I don't think it's supposed to make a difference but I have had situations where reboot of ONT was necessary to restore connection.
