Hi all - I have a 2Degrees fibre connection and am experiencing frequent 3am disconnections and reconnections, with I gather is due to the modem switching IP addresses.

I wouldn't normally care about these issues, except for the fact that my internet connected security camera system often fails to reconnect and needs a manual reboot the next morning to get it online again.

I know that this is common problem with Fritzbox modems, and the time can even be rescheduled, but is it worth moving to a static IP (about $10 extra a month) in order to completely eliminate this switching?

I get the same IP for a few months at a time (no-IP even tells you you havn't updated it in a long time) on a 7340

connected since 05.02.2019, 05:00

Sure it's not the router setting to occasionally flush? I don't see connection flushes anymore. But is advanced options under connection settings that can say use fulltime or permit ISP resets between 3-4

Internet Connection

Maintain permanently (recommended for flat rates)

You should not be getting the IP address changing all the time - 2D does not do that.  Check and see if the logs tell you what is going on.  Is the connection dropping also?  What sort of connection is it (ADSL, VDSL or fibre)?

Hiya - This isn't something we (2degrees) do. Can you please call 0800 022 022 and log a fault.

Nick.

I used to have this, but once I contacted 2degrees they fixed it for me.

There is an option under your internet settings in the fritz box to disconnect every "x" hours - something put in for some reason for overseas ISP's but not useful here.

2degrees initiated a mass turn off of this option a while ago, but if you disabled TR69 (or have a very old Fritz) you wont have had this update, 2 options either factory reset your router (if say no older than 2 years old) or turn off the option under internet in the Fritz box.
