Just switched to Slingshot this morning, but needed to call tech support to get online.

I originally followed their instructions for setting up a bring-your-own fibre modem, which say to use DHCP, vlan 10 etc - this didn't work.  I received an IP address, but couldn't browse or load pages.

Tech support told me to change to a PPPOE connection, which they provided a username and password for.  This has got me online, which is great.  But with Dream Machines known issues with PPPOE I was hoping to DHCP.

I know there are Geekzoners out there with Slingshot/Vocus who are using a UDMP - could you tell me what your settings are as I must have missed something.  Are you on DHCP or PPPOE?  What other settings are you using?  Slingshot's modem set-up page says '802.1P (Priority): 0' and I couldn't find a setting for this in the UDM.  Could that keep me offline?

I've set up a number of routers on Slingshot. All DHCP with VLAN 10. There isn't anything else to this (I've set up some Dream Machines also on Slingshot).

Ensure your dream machine is updated to the latest software also.

@cebo

I don't have an UDMP...

Auto IP works for me with a Spark Smart Modem and VLan 10.

Are you using Slingshot DNSs.... maybe an UDMP auto ISP DNS setting option?

Otherwise use Google DNSs 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

I thought this might be the case.  Odd.  I am deliberately behind on firmware (1.9.3) because latest halves my speed.  I might give this another go later on tonight when I won't get in trouble for killing Netflix. Thanks for the responses.

With the dream machine (and USG etc) leave the DNS side of things blank. So looks like this (I still use the old interface, you can switch to this):

You'll note I have IPv6 configuration there - for IPv6, you need to add the following to your LAN configuration:

Again, leaving DNS servers blank means autoconfiguration.

Also I always recommend using Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1) or Quad9 (9.9.9.9, 149.112.112.112) over Google DNS, always if your ISP's DNS servers can't be used for any reason. I personally use Quad9 on my IoT network for additional security.

I have tried 1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9 - as well as leaving DNS alone, but it didn't help.  It did feel like a DNS problem to start with though ... but the (working) PPPOE connection has DNS settings blank.

Options I would I would try with your DHCP option:

FlushDNS

Pinging to various points thru your network, then to WAN IP and various DNS server IPs.

Resetting firewall.

Again, thanks for the replies.  I went through and made sure settings matched as per michaelmurfy and ... it worked.

Now, I'm not completely useless ... pretty sure this is how I had it at 9.00am this morning.  What has changed is that I asked for - and received speedily - a static IP.  I wonder if this also led to some other switch being flicked?
