I had a static IP enabled today and since it's been enabled I have not been able to connect to the internet. I've restarted everything multiple times, factory reset the UDM Pro, and am still not able to connect. Internet was working fine before then, tried calling and waited 45 minutes and was told "we can see an active connection on our end since x hrs ago" and since it's not a 2d modem they weren't able to help any further. From my understanding, I should not have to do anything in regards to the settings for it to work. The only thing I may have to do is restart the UDM-Pro to get the new IP. Is there something I am missing?

Yup or a re-initialise of the WAN port. A static IP change shouldn't be stopped you from connecting. Have you checked your PPPoE credentials and VLAN10 set?

Yup, credentials are correct and VLAN 10 is set. I've had the internet working since I switched on Monday. PPPoE settings have not changed / VLAN 10 not changed. Restarted multiple times before I factory reset.

Do you have a 2degrees router to test or another router? You need to eliminate the UDM Pro and I know while its sounds unlikely that its an issue with the UDM - its best to tick that off (even as you say you factory reset) and try and isolate the issue if 2degrees are saying its looking fine on their end.

I have seen this happen with 2D twice where there is something weird with the static they've assigned you and getting them to assign a different static works fine. That was a few years ago now mind you.

Definitely try another router first, if that does the same thing, get back onto them.

Should work with the same settings you had before. Might be worth plugging in the FritzBox just so you can get past that checkmark on their checklist, that's what I had to do when I moved last time.

PPPoE would stand up but traceroute died after a few hops. After I went through all the troubleshooting steps with the FritzBox they sent the case higher up in the food chain and got it resolved on the same day.

Thanks guys. I do not have a Fritz!Box. I've just tried a TP-Link Archer c9 (old router) and that did connect to PPPoE (It grabbed the IP / Gateway / DNS servers) but still no internet.

Here's a picture of the assignments. The IP assigned is correct (with what they sent in the email). Maybe the gateway / DNS servers are wrong? Hopefully, it will help.

So based on fact that you are getting a connection assignments look OK - I would say you need to chat with the helpdesk again and have them look at your static ip allocation as it looks like a backend issue.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

You can try:

- ping www.google.com

- tracert 1.1.1.1

This should rule out any gateway/DNS issues, but that seems unlikely.

I called them again, had to wait for 1hr30m in queue but eventually got through. The guy removed the static IP and the internet started working, then added a different one back and it was working fine. Seemed to be a backend issue, hope no one else has to deal with that.
