As far as I can see Wifi Filtering by MAC address in The Genius Modem is limited to 12 MAC addresses. Does anyone know how to get around this. I have more than 12 devices and need a resolution

Nexus 5 Phone
Nexus 7 2013 Tablet
Samsung TAB A 8"
Samsung TAB A 10"

& many Windows laptops, Desktops etc

I guess the first question is why you're using MAC filtering. It's no more secure than just offering open WiFi.

If you want to restrict access you really need to look at something more secure - and if the limit can't be changed the simply solution is just to remove the MAC filtering totally since it offers no protection anyway.

Can you elucidate a bit when you say MAC filtering is no better than no filtering. Are you referring to MAC addressing spoofing or are you thinking of something else.
I live in an area that has a lot of wifi users and with no protection other than password it seems it is not to difficult to get access.

MAC's are sent in the clear, so anyone sniffing can sniff your "allowed" MACs.

MAC ACL's don't offer anything but very basic security. It's a bit like locking your house door but leaving the key in the lock for anybody to enter.

If you want to restrict access to your network you need to deploy WPA-EAS with a secure passphrase. If you're happy with leaving your network open then that's fine - you just need to be aware that a MAC ACL isn't restricting access to your network in any way. Somebody sitting outside your house can be busy sniffing all your insecure traffic without you even knowing.
