Have Dish TV and satellite. In the countryside. When we first got the new system it worked perfectly. Not any more.

TV1, TV2, U and Maori channels are usually perfect in the morning, then around 11 - 11:30am I get "no signal" and picture freezes with either blank or pixelated screen for the rest of the day and night.
Have had a technician out who did a system upgrade (via USB) and this worked for 2 days, then the old problem started again.

Could this be due to interference from, say, mobile phone tower or similar? We have satellite, not aerial. The satellite has been checked and strength of signal is good.

Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this problem.

Otherwise if its not to do with the changes freeview are doing and a re-tune doesn't help I would suggest looking in your box's settings and see if you have a screen to view the signal strength. This will help to ether point to the issue being the the dish/signal or something else like a faulty box or interference from a different electronic item :)

It's Freeview via satellite, not Freeview HD - frequency changes are irrelevant here.

It would be worth checking the dish alignment if that hasn't been done already?

Check the connections on your wiring and any joins. You may have some water egress into the joints and corrosion. I had this problem with Sky. With the high frequency and power feed to the dish the connection may getting high resistance as the temperature increases.

The other possibility is localised interferrence from some machinery being turned on at that time.. which just so happens to be around the same frequency as that stream.. always a possibility. If you can't find any other cause then it could be this in which case you'd need to do some detective work yourself or call in an inspector to hunt it down.

Do you have one of the wider dual LNB's, ex SKY?

These are failing all over the country at the moment, and symptoms have included variations based on temperature. People have reported 'fixing' the problem by spraying a hose over it, which cooled it down!

Depending on how old and what type of LNB it is, this may be the cause of your problem. Can you take a photo of your satellite dish and the 'box' part on the end of the arm where the cable connects in?

If it only happens on sunny days it could be a faulty LNB. Sun heats it up and the LO drifts off frequency.

That's exactly what happened to my Dual-Throat LNB (ex Sky). If the brand is Sharp, then most likely the OP has the same one I did. Replaced with a better one (Low Noise) from the Freeview Shop and all good.
