Hi Everyone,

I know a little bit about satellite TV (enough to be dangerous).

Can you help please?

I have a dish that was tune to Optus D2 (for Dutch TV) but then there was a storm the blew the dish down shearing the arm.

So I went to the Freeview shop and got another arm and installed with the plate that came with it on my wall.

I got a 12dollar finder from trademe and sure enough I picked up a satellite.  But when I tuned it sure enough it was Freeview.

Like I said - enough to be dangerous :o)  What I think is the arm is only for Optus D1.
But to be sure can you please confirm the settings for Optus D2?

I have an old Dish TV which works a disec and another old Sky dish, so believe equipment is ok.

Can some one please advise what I should do to check with out costing me more money (I'm part Dutch hahaha )

If you are getting Freeview, the dish is pointed at Optus D1.

If the dish is just for getting D2, and you are getting D1 (Freeview), then the whole thing needs to be swivelled around to the west by a few degrees, then re-align with your sat finder.

As someone said you will have to move your Dish Slightly

Open this link and select the Optus D2 Satellite Just above the map (drop down arrow on right)

http://www.sat-direction.com/

Align your place with the tip of the green line and that will give you an indication of approximately where to point the dish, note you can also zoom in to get a closer view, you should see an indication on the satellite meter you bought. Note make sure you dont have the meter "volume" too high as it could give the wrong indication, it could get overloaded

Once you have got that right then you have to skew the LNB, that meets twist the LNB to what ever the Skew says on the page, it will be different depending on your location and also the satellite.

You may also read this PDF, it may help you a little bit though they are talking about 2 LNB's

It's a small succes that you can receive D1 as it is a good starting point, however the signal from D1 is very strong so it can also "disguise" other signals.

Optus D1 is located at 160E, Optus D2 is located at 152E. So to get to D2 you will need to move your dish 8 degrees to the LEFT when standing behind it.

This is whilst assuming that you always had this dish tuned to D2 this way, there is only a single LNB (receiving head) and you don't have a multi-head or multi-dish setup.

PS: I'm Dutch

You would have to move it left 11.3 degrees and tilt it down 3.5 degrees depending on exactly where you are. The orbital location 152E is it's place in orbit around the globe.

How big is the dish? Is it the standard 60 cm? I have an 80 cm dish and can get D1 and D2, as well as Intelsat 19, just by positioning the LNBs.
