Hi guys,

I have been informed that native Freeview OD apps are in the works for all current smart tv OS's and will be launching very soon.

one of the best features will be the live stream pull for people without antenna for broadcast.

will keep you all updated as it comes.

What does this mean for the TVNZ and ThreeNow apps already on some smart TV's?

My only problem with the live feeds TVNZ and TV3 provide on their websites are you can't really pause or rewind them

On some TV's you can't access the apps without a Freeview HD or Satellite Connection because it's using HbbTV over broadcast, for example my LG TV webOS  TV has no individual apps for Freeview which I can access without a broadcast present. It will depend on the manufacturer but there should be limited change, essentially a central hub of all the on demand apps available and Freeview are working with other broadcasters to add their on demand service to the lineup as well.

This will be darn good for people who can't get Freeview|HD - my parents are stuck on Freeview Satellite and I cringe everytime I watch it (the picture quality is terrible compared to my one) however they've got very good internet and an unlimited cap.

It's been on my Samsung TV for some weeks now, but in it's present form, it's just an amalgam of TVNZ, Three and Maori TV On Demand.

To Clarify, will this mean I can live stream all the Freeview HD channels or just some of the channel's TV programs?

Note this doesn't say it will support *all* Smart TV's, it says it will support Smart TV's that are compatible with the app.

The app button on Freeview On Demand (Ex FreeviewPlus) devices already exists, so no need to have this option.

i understand that, but will the current freeview plus apps be replaced with one that does on demand and live streaming, so the box could be used with out an aerial.

This press release also mentions an AppleTV app coming soon. It's the final one I've been waiting for in terms of native apps (although the AirPlay feature works pretty well in the interim).

I've re-explored my LG apps, (even tried a software update) but nothing visible for me and my LG yet...

I don't want no sugar in it - thank you very much
