Hi there,

I have currently moved and wanting to set up freeview live on a Samsung smart tv with a UHF aerial. I also have a sat box if that's needed.

I have tried auto tuning on different settings etc. with no luck at all.

Can someone please help me with what settings should be what??? (totally clueless here *awkward face*) lol

I did enquire about a local tech coming out but that would be over $300!!

Any advice is appreciated :)

For UHF all you do is select DTV and autotune, no requirement to choose any settings.

Unless you moved from Aussie, then it's very unlikely to work at all.

To confirm, make sure your TV is plugged into an aerial lead which runs to the UHF antenna and is pointing at Mt Parihaki

F connection on TV is satellite tuner noting that some terrestrial antenna installs do use F type wall sockets. Terrestrial uses Belling Lee connector on TV https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belling-Lee_connector

The cable run most likely goes to a Sky dish rather than a UHF antenna. Call an  installer who can tell you exactly where it runs. Certainly not a TV problem.

There's no stat dish on the house and the cable looks like it goes straight to the UHF.

You still need an installer because signal is crap.

Is there any chance you could maybe put some pictures up of the aerial clearly showing the cable connection to it? I'm just wondering it's in not great shape

There is a good chance that the cable goes nowhere or to a input in another room where it was fed from a modulator on a sky box rather than to the antenna.

If you cant trace the cable in a direct feed back to the antenna, get someone in with a meter that can check it out. Possibly the antenna is corroded or the cable is full of water too. Again, that needs a signal meter to check out.

Not sure if it's related, but if you don't have line of site to the top of Parihaka, you'll struggle getting all of the channels. I'm just behind a dip with Parihaka only just visible through heavy trees, and only semi-regularly get a reliable signal.

I have a clear sight of it which is a bonus. Attached is a pic of the aerial. Looks a bit rusted in places.
