Hi

We have Sky Digital via satellite, as well as an existing Sky UHF antenna from long ago..

Now i was trying to get freeview to work tonight after buying one of those cheap DVB-T usb cards and was frustrated that the antenna that came with it had really low gain (i think its around 3dBi-5dBi) so the signal is very weak.

Ran the original app that came off the cd and after doing a scan i'm guessing it detected "some" signal as the red LED lit up whilst in was in the frequency ranges for Auckland (538000, 570000, 666000kHz).

As it came with a coax adapter as the dongle antenna adapter wasnt standard (MCX), i thought id try my luck plugging it into the splitter which feeds our other two TVs... ran the scan again and this time nothing was detected Frown

Behind our main TV there is a three way splitter... with 1 IN, 3 OUT...

The OUT cables are for 2 of our TVs, with 1 spare which I used to test..
The IN cable.. im suspecting, is a mix of both satellite and UHF as it seems with our two TVs, we can see both satellite and UHF on them (though the UHF isnt that great)..

So my questions..

Is using a cable which has a mix of satellite and uhf a problem with freeview? I'm not sure whether it is the case.. im rather confused.. Undecided

Is there a max length for coaxial before you start to get attenuation with freeview? It might have to do with the longish cable I used..

Cheers

What exactly does the IN of the splitter connect to, I assume the RF out of the Sky box, and if so what goes to the RF in of the Sky box, a UHF antenna from the roof?
