System specs:
   kernel 2.6.33.6-147.fc13,x86_64
   Fedora 13
   KDE 4.4.5
   WinTV-HVR-22000
   nVidia proprietry drivers (195.36.31)

Location:  Christchurch

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-2200

I followed the instructions in the link above to get the necessary drivers set up.  The relevant /dev/ structure should look like this:

/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0
/dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0
/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0
/dev/dvb/adapter0/net0

/dev/dvb/adapter1/demux0
/dev/dvb/adapter1/dvr0
/dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0
/dev/dvb/adapter1/net0

me-TV and Kaffeine will show the video but with no sound.  VideoLAN (vlc) is the only media-player I could find that recognises and decodes Freeviews's HE-AAC mp4a audio stream.

In vlc select Media-->"Open Capture Device"
Capture Mode: DVB
Adapter Card to Tune: /dev/dvb/adapter0
DVB Type: DVB-T

Finally, click on Play.

The downside with vlc is that it only picked up a few channels, but you can easily plug into the playlist the ones it has missed.

Here is the full playlist for the Christchurch region.
