Not sure if it's any good, but the price may be right for some.

Hmmm .... well priced, but am I correct that upon close inspection, this unit appears to be standard definition only?

But is it an approved/certified freeview box? There was a warning that these UHF non freeview approved/certified boxes may not work after they switch off the analogue signal and changes are made to the UHF broadcast. The story I read, think it was on stuff.co.nz said that peop[le may have to return their non approved box back to the seller, as it may not work after the changes are made.

Also note that it incorrectly suggest that Te Reo, Cue, GeorgeFM etc are available with this, but in fact they are satellite only, thus cannot be received with this

Yeah freeview are planning on changing the frequencies after they shut off the analogue network. Certified freeview boxes can be updated over the air, cheapies like this one would need to be programed manually for each channel by the user, or reprogrammed through the RS-232 port or similar by a technician (hopefully the person who sold it to you!)

Yes that is pretty bad. You also can't get stratos, yet it is advertised as one of the channels you can get on it.

Yes they may end up with a lot of very unhappy customers in 2013. For UHF freeview I would only buy an approved device.

There's also no mention of MHEG5 support which is required for the full 7-day Freeview EPG.

Do you mean the standard EPG or the freeview branded one? I would assume it would have some form of EPG, as it would be needed to record a program, although it has now sold out so can't see the specs.

$65 sounds too good to be true. At that price it must've been a satellite receiver?

Some of the unapproved terrestrial receivers are just approved receivers with their nametags switched and HD over component re-enabled.
