Hi All,

Can someone please confirm for me that Palapa C2 is actually transmitting at the moment. - I'm specifically interested in the Indonesian channels.

Another installer couldn't pick up a signal the other day, so I thought I might be able to help. I checked on Lyngsat to get the transponder frequencies and there are NO transponders listed under Palapa C2. - Have I pulled up the wrong info, or is the satellite not transmitting at the moment?

Alternatively can someone tell me the transponder frequency that the Indonesian channels are on - RCTI, TVRI, Global, etc.

Cheers,   Wild Bill.

you might want to post on Austech or the ApsatTV Yahoo group, not many c-banders on here.

Hi Bill,

For a start it's now Palapa D.

Global TV etc moved to a new transponder.
New details are now

3934
H
sr 6500
fec 3/4

Power is down a bit now in this new transponder home.
Obviously it's a low elevation but I successfully received this all last year on a 1.8m dish here in Palmerston North. I had been looking to sell this dish but got no takers so will set it up again soon for another year of F1 coverage.

The F1 went encrypted twice on me last year at key parts of races so I was a bit pssd about this. It was supposedly BISS encryption but none of the codes I had worked and I'm not convinced this was actually BISS at all.

IF ANYONE KNOWS AN ALTERNATIVE SOURCE FOR F1 COVERAGE I'D LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT IT!

Sorry Bill, haven't actually got the dish up and running now so I can't say today that it is still going ok. (I don't technically have a satellite receiver at the moment to test for you). Watch the skew though of the LNB, and the depth to the dish/focal point adjustment. You'll know all about this anyway but it never hurts to mention it as (depending on your dish size), these signals are fairly weak and I found I really needed to optimise my setup to make it reliable.

Hope some/any of this is of help to you.
Cheers.
