Was using GDrive but then moved to OneDrive and loving it.

When I changed services from one to the other, I used a website called MultCloud.

Worked really well it does the copy of files from one service to the other. I am not sure of privacy of your files if that is a concern but worth checking out.

Dropbox proponent here.  Works wonderfully.  Interestingly though most commentators here seem happy with their cloud storage platform of choice. Not many "service x sucks" comments.  So I guess this means the technology is reasonably mature and stable now which is great for consumers.  I still buy USB external drives for backups but with 1TB on Dropbox and unlimited data I can see my requirement for these diminishing, although not disappearing.

Another ownCloud user here. Probably being paranoid but trying to remove as much of my data from these cloud providers as possible. Plus ownCloud has good integration for contact/calendar syncing between my iPad, Android, and desktop/laptop PCs running Thunderbird. One common set of contacts and a synced calendar. This is all on top of the secure file storage that I have complete control over.

Another one to look at is Copy.com
Out of the three mentioned though, I prefer OneDrive.

I've used Dropbox, Google Drive, and One Drive for Business (a different beast to vanilla one drive).

Drop box has to be the best of these three. Google drive is very simple, but integrates well with google stuff (mainly android). One Drive for Business is a total lemon and must die a fiery death.

Hope this helps!

Presso: What do you use for cloud storage ?? , I was using drop box however my extra space is about to expire and with my new phone I get an extra 100gb with one drive for 2 years.

I think I might switch over to that, what do you use and which is the best one for integration etc, Would be used for the occasional files as well as all my photos auto backed up.

I was in exactly the same boat - large proportion of (free) Dropbox space dropping off next month, and I was reluctant to pay the relatively high prices they charge to continue it. I switched to One Drive about three months back - initially paying a small fee ($2 US a month I think), but since got more than enough free space following a post on various offers here (ironically, one linking one's Dropbox account to One Drive).

We have a mix of devices - iPad, Android phones and tablet, Win 8.1 laptop, Mac Mini - and One Drive's working fine on all of them. Some little things are frustrating, like inability to specify the exact folder for photo uploads, and not always being able to order folders in the preferred order, but given I now have all photos and videos plus all other key material backed up for free I'm happy...

My understanding is that files uploaded to Dropbox are encrypted while this is not the case with One Drive is that correct? This may be an issue for some...

Also, has One Drive added the ability to sync across a local network? I recall this used to be a limitation.

File sync services are not backup services.

richms: File sync services are not backup services.

Thanks for that useful point. In my case I'm using the former as a substitute for the latter (and in addition to a NAS backup) and all's sweet with the world.

I've used Dropbox for years and it just works. But I have had a play with Mega recently and that seems to work really well too, and it's encrypted and 10x the storage at 50GB.

I use Google Drive mainly for myself and a little bit of dropbox. Had nothing but problems with onedrive every time Ive used it for customers. One thing I do really like about Google Drive is shared folders dont count towards your personal allocation, only the person they are shared from - not sure if dropbox is like that?

Hmm personally I would stick to dropbox - For me its brilliant works on all devices!

Where as the simplicity with Google Drive is fantastic, although I think it is for smaller use.

If you are running a business then Dropox, if you are a one man and etc then Google Drive all the way.

Haven't tried One Drive myself or even heard of it...

Another OneDrive for business user here! Though also use Google Drive and Dropbox.  OneDrive for Business has the most (free) storage BUT it is strangely limited to 20,000 files!?!? So to get close to the limit you'd need to be storing very large zip/ISO's etc.

Also use it for syncing to SharePoint BUT again this is limited, however to only 2,000 files per library... WTF Microsoft!!!

Dropbox's LAN syncing is the biggest thing missing from the others.

I have had a small number of issues with OD for B on CM12.1 where normal OD works (along with all the other cloud storage solutions).  There is so much potential with OD for B, but it really needs an overhaul.

I use DropBox for syncing and Amazon Cloud Drive for real backups.

Most of the popular services (dropbox, gdrive, etc) are crap for doing actual backups as they only have client apps that sync.

PS I did a bit of research a few weeks ago and MediaFire is a good offering at a good price but only has a sync client and not a true backup client. I think they were offering 1TB for US$2.50 a month.

I'm mainly a OneDrive user, partly because of the amount of free storage that came with Office but mostly because I use OneNote a lot so OneDrive is the easiest way to share and synch notebooks across home and work PCs and my phone.

I also use Google Drive a bit, mostly just as an Android phone "backup" but sometimes to share stuff with my daughter who's hooked into Google Drive and Google Classroom through her school.

Aaannd I also have a Dropbox account which I pretty much never use, although I sometimes have to work in a location that's not connected to our department's network, so someone set up a shared Dropbox that we will upload non-confidential data to if we need to access it when we're "offsite".
